Live dvd Duits concert R.E.M.
R.E.M. brengt een live dvd uit met beelden van een concert dat de band gaf in Duitsland tijdens de tournee door Europa afgelopen jaar. 'Perfect Square' is opgenomen in Wiesbaden Bowling Green op 19 juli 2003 en verschijnt op 23 februari aanstaande.
De set omvat songs uit de gehele oeuvre van R.E.M., van huidige single 'Animal' tot het oude werkje 'Permanent Vacation', een nog nooit eerder uitgebracht nummer uit begin jaren tachtig. Natuurlijk zijn de grote hits zoals 'Daysleeper', 'Man On The Moon', 'Losing My Religion' en 'It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)' op de schijf te vinden.R.E.M. releaste eind vorig jaar de 'Best Of' compilatie 'In Time' (1988-2003). Momenteel is de poprockband druk met de opnames voor hun dertiende studioalbum, de opvolger van 'Reveal' uit 2001. De plaat moet voor eind 2004 in de winkels liggen.

Het concert is geregiseerd door Julia Knowles, die o.a. diverse MTV Europe Video Music Awards in beeld heeft gebracht. Ik heb geen idee over eventuele extra's en de geluidskwaliteit, maar dat zal vast wel goed verzorgd zijn!

Meanwhile, Warners is preparing to release a DVD of the band's first concert-film since 1995's 'Road Movie.' All I can say after seeing what Julia Knowles did with the film is that it might be an even better film than it was a show (and it was a pretty rocking show!)'-she captured a magical night in a warm and singular way; Perfect Square indeed. I can't wait to get to share this one with friends, and the legendary and rarely-screened documentary 'A Stirling Performance" (from Scotland in 1999) is the 'bonus content' (gotta have it). We had just started the website in 1999 in time for the tour (after famously declaring that we had secured the title 'last band in the world without a website').
