Michael Jackson Leads Star-Studded Cast on Release for Charity
Michael Jackson leads a superstar-studded cast of artists on What More Can I Give, the sequel to We Are The World, on Monday, 27th October. As the highlight of the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas, the shortfilm (video) of What More Can I Give will be officially premiered in the US. Screening, which includes 'behind the scenes' footage of the song being recorded features performances from some of the world's biggest names, including Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Justin Timberlake and N'Sync, Beyonce, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Tom Petty, Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana.
In a typically bold and innovative move from an artist whose career reads like the history of modern pop music, What More Can I Give will be released as an official downloadable single to internet users all over the world. All proceeds from this transaction will go to a series of charities, the details of which will be revealed at a later date.
Fans have played a large role in the release of the song. Says Stuart Backerman, "Michael has said to me so many times, it is because of the fans. Fans campaigned so hard for the release of this song and Michael joins with all the artists involved in thanking the fans for their continued support of What More Can I Give." Backerman continued, "What More Can I Give used to be a secret gem but will now be available to everyone...

Deze single werd reeds in 2001 opgenomen na aanleiding van de WTC crashes om geld op te brengen voor de slachtoffers maar omdat MJ toen in de clinch lag met Sony heeft Tommy Mottola (toenmalig hoofd van Sony) de release van dit nummer tegengehouden.
En dat was jammer want het is een prachtig nummer. Gelukkig hebben de vele petities van de fans nu opgeleverd dat het nummer alsnog wordt uitgebracht.
Eindelijk weer eens een lekkere samenwerking van veel grote artiesten.

Ja, in het huidige Amerikaanse klimaat is het begrijpelijk maar waarom zie je dan geen Bono van U2 of een Eddie Vedder van Pearl Jam (als er twee mensen zijn die aan liefdadigheid doen.. zijn zij het wel)?

"I want to say thank you for your love, your support, all that you´ve done. I´m very honored to be here tonight. ´We Are The World´ was a project we did to feed people all around the globe who were starving. As you know it was a huge success. ´We Are The World´. This time the time has come for the sequel to ´We Are The World´ to express our feelings and hopes and lift those who need it most.
It´s been two years, a very long time, but with over 100 people participating and donating their per records, this project together finally arrived. It couldn´t have happened without you all(pointing to audience). It couldn´t have happened without Beyonce, she´s on there. A lot of artists (I love this woman here -she´s lovely (Beyonce) Incredibly talented artists that helped in creating this song that I wrote. Two years ago we survived a terrorist attack that not only changed our country, but the entire world. (I love you more). We will never forget (I love you more) that terrible tragedy that brought us together and finally brought this project together. Producing this song was a miracle in itself. Here is a video showing some of the highlights of the moving collaboration, and tonight you will experience it here first. Thank you to Radio Music Awards for giving us the opportunity to bring it to the world.
