The beginning really freaked me out. I love all horror movies and I've seen quite a few, but this movie tricked me in some parts! The good points are the beginning, one part in the middle, and the ending. The rest... well, the rest just isn't all that memorable. It drags on for much of the middle. It could have used a few more scares, thrills, ... anything basically. But still, this movie can be quite creepy/scary and chilling if you just think about these events actually happening to someone... that would be horrible and I think that's where some of the terror comes from.

I rate this movie as the most original scary movie of all time. Its right along there with the first Halloween, The Entity, The Exorcist, or even Jaws. Of course these can be argued.

The setup was outstanding. The mansion was dark and eerie.The music score alone stirred alot of tension. You are in the scene with her from when she was a teenager to when she becomes a grown woman.

I was much younger at the time this movie came out and it gave me the creeps. And now that I look back on it, I still can't watch this movie alone and if I do, its in the daytime.

The opening 30 minutes were pretty scary and really got me interested, too bad the middle part of the movie stunk other wise it would have been great! It still wasn't awful though, i just didn't think the middle fit very well with the rest of the movie at all.
