(Friday March 04, 2005 05:13 PM)
In an interview with MOJO magazine, Alison Goldfrapp has revealed how recording sessions for her third album are progressing.
The singer, who won critical acclaim with 2001's "Felt Mountain" and "Black Cherry" in 2003, has been working in Somerset with long-term musical partner Will Gregory on the as-yet-untitled record.
She is currently mixing the results at Olympic studios in London.
Working titles for songs include "White Horse", "You Never Know", "Ooh La La", "Slide In", "Lovely To See You", "Fall To The Floor" and "Time Out Of The World".
The singer described the album as a progression from the 'glam rock' sound of "Black Cherry".
She said: "We had fun with that [sound] on the second record, so we've explored it a bit more with lots of cheeky, fuzzy, synth sounds and lots of synthesizers that probably sound like guitars on first hearing.
"You know, there are so many guitar bands around, we don't need to join in on that one."
She added: "There are a few things on the album that, in a weird kind of way, take on "Felt Mountain", but in a different way, things like "White Horse" and "You Never Know". They're sort of desolate but at the same time positive, sort of gloomily euphoric.
"It sounds like somewhere between New York, Berlin and north-east Somerset, or maybe cold crumpets and bubbles. Or even euphoric crumpets".

new single and new live dates!
Goldfrapp release their brand new single ‘Ooh La La’ on 8th August 2005 on Mute. This is followed by their new album, also called ‘Ooh La La’, released on 22nd August 2005
Described by Alison as “sulky, sexual and a bit ambiguous”, the single ‘Ooh La La’ is a thrilling slab of glam-noir. Vibrant and visceral, the track is pure excitement and tension, delivered with the downright dirty insouciance that we have come to expect of Britain’s most captivating act.
Co-written and co-produced by Alison and Will, ‘Ooh La La’ comes accompanied by an appropriately electrifying glam fantasy video courtesy of uber-director Dawn Shadforth that Alison describes as ‘harking back to Eno era Roxy Music and old Top of the Pops’- see it here very soon!
Their third album follows their Mercury Prize nominated debut release ‘Felt Mountain’ in 2000 and 2003’s ‘Black Cherry’. “We’ve made an electronic, glam cross between Berlin, New York and north-east Somerset.” explains Alison. The new album is the sound of Goldfrapp breaking through their own crash barrier - a strident, psychedelic, 100% uncompromising creative force at the top of their very own game.

Bronquote:Hello electro girls & boys !
Don't worry about the duet meeting your expectations. They made the perfect modern pop album. Once again. Don't be affraid : the Felt Mountain musical mood seems to be definitely over. Ooh La La (the album) is very electro oriented. Pumping. Danceable. Exciting. Even more uptempo than Black Cherry. More accessible too. The single is anthemic with a big glam rock stomp (handclaps are in the air...), a cross between tracks such as Strict Machine or T.Raumschmiere stuff with the usual "moroderish" touch... Other tracks develop a kind of electro funk fusion and the voice of Alison still sounds amazing. Tracklisting is : 1/ Ooh La La, 2/Lovely 2 C U, 3/ Ride a white horse, 4/ U never know, 5/ Let It Take You, 6/ Fly Me Away, 7/ Slide In, 8/ Koko Nights, 9/ Satin Chic, 10/ Time Out From The World, 11/ I wear your star 12/ NO. 1

6 Music hear Ooh La La in full
10 May 05 - Goldfrapp have unveiled the long awaited follow up to Blackcherry at London's plush Soho Hotel this afternoon.
The album Ooh La La - also the title of the first single - is out on 22 August.
Described by singer Alison as "sulky, sexual and a bit ambiguous", the single is a slab of T-Rex style glam-rock. Delivered with her trademark dirty insouciance on lines like "I want to touch you, you're made for love".
Co-written and co-produced by Alison and Will, Ooh La La comes accompanied by a glam fantasy video directed by Dawn Shadforth that Alison describes as "harking back to Eno era Roxy Music and old Top Of The Pops".
Their third album follows their Mercury Prize nominated debut release Felt Mountain in 2000 and 2003's Black Cherry. Eight tracks from the new album were played, all with trademark lush strings, grimy synths and breathy St Etienne style vocals.
Following their performance at Glastonbury last summer Goldfrapp will also be back on the road this autumn. Already confirmed are two dates in London and Manchester with further announcements to follow soon.

Had ik al gezegd dat Goldfrapp tof is?
quote:Few words to describe what i've heard :
1. Ooh la la = definetely a tune. Think Strict Machine, the kills, glam rock, Bowie, tension, handclaps, the song builds until the orgasm
2. Lovely 2 C U = think Yes Sir, Prince, electro funk, vanity 6...
3. Ride a white horse = uplifting, epic, great voice break, disco, hard not to dance on this...
4. U never know = beautiful, classic Goldfrapp Ballad, James Bond Soundtrack, chords, utopia
5. Let It Take You = athmospheric, very Kate Bush, bleeps
6. Fly me away = one of the most poppiest moments on the album. midtempo. very 80's synths
7. Slide In = sonically one of the most impressive tracks. great production job. many effects on Alison's voice. druggy. very structured in a Mirwaïs style. reminds me of Nobody's knows me on Madonna latest album... same kind of rythmic
8. Koko Nights = somptuous ballad with great synths.
9. Satin Chic = one of the best tracks. very cabaret (close to Goldfrapp remix for This is the new shit of MM). pumpy, vintage organ, "na na na na" in the chorus, fantastic melody
10. Time Out From The World = the third (and last) ballad of the album. close to Black Cherry track. expectable.
11. I wear your star = deja vu feeling, sounds a little too much like Strict Machine (same rythm). not surprising at all, a filler, very Black Cherry Album
12. NO.1 = pure pop jewel. very joyful. the perfect final track. positive lyrics, catchy "yeah yeah yeah", rythmic sounds like Autobahn 66 on Primal Scream latest album
8/10
Ja, even afwachten. Ik snap niet hoe iemand met z'n volle verstand een hele tracklist uit zijn hersenen op kan lepelen met beschrijving...quote:

If you've got any sense you'll already have been over to Goldfrapp's official site to listen to a short clip of the new single 'Ooh La La'. It's a total corker but let us state very clearly and for the record (etc) that 'Ooh La La' is NOT the best song on the new Goldfrapp album. Suspend your disbelief, viewers, because 'Supernature' is the best album we've heard this year.
Not even the best pop album, although it obviously is. Just the best album period. It might even be perfect. The standout tracks are all of them, but at a push we'd say that we particularly love 'Number One' and 'Ride A White Horse'.
We could go on about this all day but to be quite frank the sun's out and we have better things to be doing - for the time being just go here and buy some tickets to see Goldfrapp live in October because the shows will be totally unmissable.

Staat er verder ook nog bij wat ze ervan vonden?quote:In de Oor van deze maand staat dat ze op de redactie deze maand al naar Ooh La La hebben geluisterd. *jaloers*.
