kan nog altijd met veel plezier naar het 1e deel kijken. Bij de 3e worden ze redelijk tenenkrommend...

Lois & clark (serie) was ook keigaaf... Smallvile heb ik nooit gezien, maar lijkt me 3x nix...

Word reaches us that WB have more than just casting Superman on their minds. Rumour has it that one of the actresses they are looking at for Lois Lane is none other than Natalie Portman.

Portman has just finished shooting Episode III in Sydney and could find herself back there as soon as next year should the WB greenlight McG's movie. Would this be a good move for her though? Would she really want to do another high-profile blockbuster role on the back of Star Wars?

We asked her agent about this. Have WB been in talks with her about the part? They didn't deny it: "Nothing's conclusive"... What the heck does that mean!? Has she been in talks and nothing is signed and sealed!? Or are they refusing to deny it since they don't want to totally rule out the possibility of her going up for the role?

Obviously whoever plays Superman will have a lot to do with who they choose for Lois. With 20 year old Henry Cavill (who we revealed a month ago) now front runner for the Man Of Steel the WB will be looking for an actress of a similar age for his fellow co-worker/damsel in distress Miss Lane. Portman, 22, fits the bill and as we are told is one of a group of young actresses currently being considered.

They want to do the same.

Rose Byrne and Selma Blair are "this close" to getting the role of Lois Lane, and one of them will get it. They are the two runner-ups. My bet is on Byrne, but we'll see how things pan out.

While Topher Grace auditioned for the role of Jimmy Olsen, apparantly it may (the key word is may) go to THE OC co-star Adam Brody. He's a fav because of the aformentioned show, and it seems he is the "hottest" thing in his category. The WB wants hot, young stars for this movie while not still filling it with horrid choices (Ashton Kutcher, Beyonce Knowles).

Now comes the main event. I can safely say that you can expect Johnny Depp to be the next Lex Luthor. That is, because he is the studio's favourite and McG wants to work with him. He's tied because he's not exactly sure if he wants to accept, and he also has CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY filming soon under the direction of Tim Burton. But WB and McG are really trying to nab Depp, since he turned out the most viable in his screentest (I heard it was "f**king amazing"). If he can't do it or doesn't want to, then expect the role to go to an up and rising comedian or someone in that theory.

And that's about it. The film's rolling, though, I cans surely tell you that. J.J. Abrams' script is getting tons of re-writes, and I hear for the better, and Warner Bros. wants this out by no latter than Summer 2006."

Gisteren plaatsten we een bericht van een van de bronnen van website DarkHorizons over een aantal rollen in de nieuwe Superman film. Johnny Depp werd daarin genoemd als mogelijke kandidaat voor de rol van Lex Luthor, de machtige baas van LexCorp Inernational, en vijand van Superman.

Dezelfde anonieme bron meldt nu dat het niet Lex Luthor, maar Jor-El, de vader van Superman en Krypton's greatest scientist, is die misschien wel eens gespeeld zou kunnen worden door Depp.

"I was mistaken, Johnny Depp is not up for Lex Luthor, but rather for Jor-El. He was up for Luthor but requested to try out for The Man of Steel's father instead, and as I said earlier, schedules are being sorted. New script draft is more action focused while the main storyline features promptly on Clark/Superman/Lois romance. A good portion of the screenplay is action, think of "Tomb Raider". No story, all action. The origins are displayed, but downplayed, and this is indeed set as a more trendier and more fashionable update rather than a classic return to the comics roots one (ala "Batman Begins"). Expect official announcements this Summer. Brendan Fraser is still involved, but not as Supes, rather Ty-Zor."

It started the other week at IGN Filmforce who reported a rumour that "X-Men 1 & 2" helmer Bryan Singer had been offered the chance to direct the "Superman" project now that it was fresh out of McG's hands. Singer was reportedly mulling it over.

Today he seems to have made his choice. AICN reports that Singer, along with his two gifted "X2" writers Michael Dougherty & Dan Harris are all on board the project currently rumoured to be called "Superman Returns". There's also word that the J.J. Abrams script has been completely tossed out, with the trio starting from scratch on a whole new script.

Even more eyebrow raising is that it will not be an origin story, and in fact something regarding the Christopher Reeve films and that universe has something to do with this. The title suggests he might have left Earth and now is back. In any case the cybersuit and current set design/constructions are looking like they'll be trashed.

Brian Singer will direct the new Superman film following last week's announcement that Charlie's Angels director McG has left the project.
The film-maker behind both X-Men films and the mazy classic The Usual Suspects said taking on the legend of the Man of Steel would represent the fulfillment of a long held ambition.

He said: "My interest in Superman dates back many, many years. In fact, it was the Richard Donner classic film that was my day-to-day inspiration in shaping the X-Men universe for the screen.

"I feel that Superman has been late in his return and it is time for him to fly again."

The latest reinvention of the DC comics tale has led an occasionally troubled existence, with Tim Burton and Brett Ratner both attached to the project at one time or another. There were even suggestions that Donner himself might step back in the director's chair.

McG's departure was thought to be down to problems agreeing on the film's budget, along with Warner Brothers' preference for filming in Australia. The director had wanted New York, which he believed was a natural stand-in for Metropolis.

Nicolas Cage, Jude Law and Josh Hartnett have all been touted as possible contenders to pull underpants over spandex, along with lesser known British actor Henry Cavill. Natalie Portman was said to be Warner's first choice to play Lois Lane.

Orlando Bloom is maar wat trots op zijn meisje. Hij is een grote fan van Superman en is blij dat Kate een rol heeft weten te bemachtigen in de veelbelovende film.
