Rumours are heading this way that a price drop is on it's way for ALL next-gen consoles...
The online retailer Gamestop has released a new price list showing reduced prices for Cbox, PS2 and most importantly, GameCube. The new prices are set to take place in May, after E3 and should be welcome news to those praying in a price drop for their dream console.
The new prices are as follows:
GameCube USD 99.99 (approx. euro 91)
Xbox USD 149.99 (approx. euro 136)
PlayStation2 USD 149.99 (approx. euro 136)
Although, this is still unconfirmed and it's uncertain whether, if true, the price drop will spread to other retailers, and to Europe.

Although multiplayer doesn't offer any of the new on-foot gameplay, you will be able to drive AT-ST walkers, plus fly all the starfighters available in the normal game. "The type of craft you pick will give you a handicap or an edge," says Producer Brett Tosti. "If I'm a really good player and pick a TIE fighter, I'll have a harder time against someone who uses and X-Wing."
Factor 5 also plans to put more of the "wars" into Star Wars multiplayer by giving you wingmen and ground units. "Remember in Rogue Leader, while over Hoth, you could command some of the ground troops?" Tosti asks. "The multiplayers designers are making it so you can command a lot of different people."

Scoop #1: Mario Cart GC (tentative title): First Available Screen Shots of Long-Awaited Game!Title: Mario Cart GC (tentative)
Platform: Nintendo GameCube
Release Date: Undetermined
Price: UndeterminedThe GC version of Mario Cart has at last been announced to the public! Unlike previous installments, this one features two characters riding the carts simulatenously one in back and one in front. The number of selectable characters has grown to 16, opening up the range of races to be had even more. Furthermore, there are items that can only be used by certain characters, as well as those that only can be utilized depending on the combination of characters chosen. Choosing the right character to ride behind you and using the items effectively will be the key to victory.
Special Focus:
Increased Multiplayer Options?Famitsuu would like to turn readers eyes to this games incorporation of LAN-based competition, an experimental effort involving competitive play though network technology. As its been made clear that Nintendo is working on a network-based plan of their own, its safe to say that this game will be one of those to take advantage of this plan.
Although multiple GC units and copies of the soft will be necessary to employ it, LAN-based competition features no time lag and allows for greater multiplayer possibilities. Look for Nintendo to elaborate on this at E3.The heart-pumping races of Mario Kart featuring simultaneous 4-player competition come back to life!
Mario Kart for the GC will of course feature simultaneous four-player competition, with the screen to be split into four parts as shown in the picture. Looks like the number of carts and courses has increased as well!
Check out the picture of Mario looking to the side as he uses an item. This and the other screen shots would imply that items can be used in whatever direction forward, back, right, or left.
Pair up the Mario Brothers! (*shot of Mario and Luigi)
The courses with large rises and drops look to be a blast.
Point 1:
New strategy comes to life with two characters riding the same cart one in front and one in back!Take on the various courses with an extra character riding in the back of your cart, an option unavailable in the previous Mario Kart games. This amazing new option allows for the two characters riding the same cart to switch positions, and only the character seated in the back is alloweed to use items. The items that can be used change according to the characters chosen, making the selection of the racing team to be used a major point.
Point 2:
The characters that have been confirmed to appear areMario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Catharine, Wario, Waruiji, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Koopa, Koopa Jr., NokoNoko and PataPata 16 characters in all. Perhaps there are some secret characters as well?
Point 3:
The advantage of LAN-based competitionLAN-based competition will allow a max of 8 players to play simultaneously. Loooks for more details to be announced at E3.
quote:
I, however, am simply too excited about the gameplay possibilities to notice. Now, people who stink can actually use some of the heavier characters (DK, Bowser, Wario). They can use different characters with them that are quicker (KOOPA TROOPA!!!!!!!! Ahem...) and if they crash, they can quickly switch off an accelerate off the line faster, and once they're in the clear, or have to barrel through some traffic, switch back to the big guy. This allows for a level of strategy unexpected for the title; it isn't just Mario Kart 64. Now, you can plan ahead for the Circuit to decide whether or not you go with a Big Guy and a small guy, two big or small guys, or maybe move into some Average people like Mario and Luigi. It's all up to you. Beginners will pick Mario and Luigi, or they'll pick the Baby Mario and Luigi combo, while really advanced players will pick the people they work best with, and the people best matched to the course.I mean, the simple idea that I could play as Koopa Troopa and Yoshi. Koopa starts off the race, while Yoshi is able to focus on Weapon fire. Since he probably has special eggs, he works with the weapons while Koopa flies around the track. However, it comes to a point where Yoshi's superior...something skills are needed, and thus they switch, and then they can better race. There are possibilities there that ARE innovative and are in fact new. Miyamoto did not want Mario Kart 64 2 made, and who can blame him? Now, there is a whole new strategy to Mario Kart, and I couldn't be happier at this point...well, I COULD be happier with Online Play, but meh. No biggie. My GCN is pretty far away from the Broadband anyways.
Only concerns are the Baby Carriage for Baby Mario/Luigi (How do you control it? Makes no sense!) along with the fact that it should be interesting to see how the LAN play works.
Another thing I just thought of; how great will this make Multiplayer Battle Mode? Now, each character will have their own weapons to use from in back of the car, and thus with two racers that means there will be great opportunity for weapon-intensive battles. Also, how will LAN work? Will you be able to do 8-Player LAN Co-Op Battle Mode with 3 Players per Kart? Will you be able to have 8 Player Normal Races with 8 Karts AND 4 Kart races with 2 on each Kart, or will it be only one or the other? There are lots of possibilities for LAN play with this new 2-Player setup.
I'm hyped. I'm really hyped. So sue me for looking past the average screens...I'm hyped.
quote:De makers van Timesplitters2 werken aan een geheim project...:
I have to give it to Nintendo though... I was not expecting them to really add anything to the game and now we have tag team racing. This has been said a dozen times before but it can be said again.. the whole 2 players per cart thing is going to add a ton of strategy to the game. Not to mention that the weight of your cart will probably be influenced by who is on board as well.... which means carts can go from the super light (Baby Mario and Baby Luigi) to the super heavy (Bowser and DK).

EXCLUSIVE: TIMESPLITTERS TEAM'S SECRET PROJECT REVEALED!Details on Free Radical Design's latest title have emerged - and it ain't TimeSplitters 3...
16:27 Nottingham-based uber-developer Free Radical Design is working on a secret third-person stealth-action title for all next-gen formats, we can exclusively reveal. Comprising key ex-Rare employees who created the amazing GoldenEye, Free Radical has enjoyed huge success with its first two-titles, TimeSplitters and TimeSplitters 2.
But while gamers may be craving a further instalment of the brilliant FPS series, Free Radical has other avenues it wishes to explore. One inside source, speaking about the project, told us: "It's a third-person action title with a bit of stealth in there - it'll be a huge departure from TimeSplitters but is shaping up to be amazing."And we can exclusively reveal that Eidos, which published TimeSplitters and its sequel, will definitely not be handling Free Radical's latest project. The game is believed to have been signed to a currently unknown major publisher and an announcement is expected at E3.
Considering Free Radical's pedigree, this title is sure to be another triple-A must-have. Further details are being held incredibly tightly to chests, but we'll carry on digging and bring you all the latest dirt soon.
