quote:
LEGENDARY rockers Led Zeppelin are set to re-group after 22 years for a money-spinning stadium tour of America. The three surviving members — singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones — plan to hit the road next summer. The trio hope to pocket £6.4million for the shows. Robert, 54, Jimmy, 58, and 56-year-old John Paul met two weeks ago at the offices of their management firm Trinifold. They buried the hatchet over Page and Plant’s 1990s tour, which John Paul only learned about from a newspaper. A band insider said last night: “If the right offer comes up they will do it.” Trinifold added: “Jimmy is itching to do something, but there is nothing firm yet.” Zeppelin split in 1980 after a booze binge killed drummer John Bonham. His son Jason is set to play drums on the tour. The band, famed for songs like Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love, are second only to the Beatles in worldwide album sales. They still hold records for crowds at their 1970s concerts. A music industry insider said: “They had so many hits that I am sure the reunion would be a major success.”
Page is 63, Plant is 58, en Jones is 61. Maar goed.

zijn dagboek op zijn website:
"John Paul Jones has apparently announced on a Toronto radio station that Led Zeppelin will tour next summer. This of course meant I woke up to a load of mail asking if it's true. Look, I'm not a Led Zeppelin website or news board, I'm sure the official announcement will be out soon with all the details on Jimmy Page's website. The tickets are bound to be cheap - you can re-mortgage your house to see your heroes"Dit werd door de programma-makers van het desbetreffende station tegengesproken:
""Sorry, but I haven't heard any of our announcers chatting about this. My understanding is that this is an internet rumour, which is spreading like wild fire, but has no truth to it, which is why it's not referenced on our site"Vervolgens gooit de website
Brave Words weer olie op het vuur:
"LED ZEPPELIN Rumors Heating Up
According to Toronto-based radio station Q107, these LED ZEPPELIN reunion rumors are really heating up. Original bassist John Paul Jones was seen at Trinifold Management in London, England recently with singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page apparently discussing plans for as reunion that will feature late drummer John Bonham's son Jason on the skins. The last time the original three performed was on July 13, 1985 at the Live Aid concert at JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, for a short set featuring drummers Tony Thompson (CHIC) and Phil Collins (GENESIS). Jones has been noticeably "absent" during Page/Plant's musical activities post-Led Zeppelin"Vervolgens een mailtje tussen mensen dicht bij het vuur:
"P.S. Did you see that Zeppelin are reforming to do a Stadium tour of the States ?. (Again....) It was in one of our national newspapers earlier this week, and it said that the three boys had had long meetings together with their management, and had buried the hachet, and were organising a tour with Jason on drums. I personally, up until this morning, thought this would be an excellent time to start all the "I'll eat my hat" statements, you know, "When Hell freezes Over", and suchlike, but this morning, the tickets went on sale for Glastonbury and the organiser, Michael Evis says he has signed "The Biggest Band in the World" to headline, he wouldn't say who it was, but the went on to rule out U2, The Stones, Radiohead or the Chilli Peppers. He has already announced The Who in the line-up, so it doesn't leave anyone else.......... ? Watch this space......"Pff.. als dit echt een loos gerucht is, wordt het wel eens tijd dat de heren zelf een reactie geven op deze wildgroei aan geruchten.... Of zou er tóch iets aan het broeien zijn?
