Clocking in at 5 hours and 20 minutes, this DVD has been created from just a handful of performances that were ever filmed during the bands extraordinary lifetime. As guitarist Jimmy Page explains, We were never really part of the pop scene. It was never what Led Zeppelin was supposed to be about. Our thing was playing live. In that sense, Zeppelin was very much an underground band. The fact that it became as successful as it did was something that was almost out of our control. We actually shunned commercialism, which is why so little official footage of the band has ever been seen before.Featured are performances from the Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, just one year after the release of their debut album, their triumphant five-night run at Earls Court in May 1975 and their record-breaking shows at the Knebworth Festival in August 1979, just one year before the death of drummer John Bonham led to the bands dissolution. Also included are songs from New Yorks Madison Square Garden in July 1973 which were not included in 'The Song Remains The Same' concert film, the only previously released live Zeppelin footage. Other highlights of the release include extremely rare television appearances, including a performance for Danish television in March 1969, promotional clips, TV interviews, behind-the-scenes material, and even a bit of fan-shot bootleg footage.
A stunning sound and vision experience Led Zeppelin DVD has been painstakingly restored, remixed, and remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, DTS, and PCM Two-Channel Stereo under the personal supervision of Jimmy Page and director Dick Carruthers. The DVD also includes further rare, never before seen footage used for the menus.

Dat is idd een postuum uitgegeven verzameling leftovers, en verreweg mijn minst favoriete Zeppelinalbum (op de voet gevolgd door In Through the Out Door).

quote:
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - A folk song by Anne Bredon, this was originally credited as "traditional, arranged by Jimmy Page," then "words and music by Jimmy Page," and then, following legal action, "Bredon/Page/Plant.""Black Mountain Side" - uncredited version of a traditional folk tune
previously recorded by Bert Jansch.
LD's comment:: I did not know this. Is it true?"Bring It On Home" - the first section is an uncredited cover of the Willie
Dixon tune (as performed by the imposter Sonny Boy Williamson).
LD: Possibly true, but I still love the riff as played by Page!"Communication Breakdown" - apparently derived from Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown."
LD: Is this true? I can't find the Cochran tune, but they have been known to cover (credited) Cochran, e.g., 'She's Something Else,' which was for me forever definiteively immortalized by Gary Oldman as Sid Vicious in "Sid & Nancy.""Custard Pie" - uncredited cover of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down," with lyrics from Sleepy John Estes's "Drop Down Daddy."
LD: Well, the words certainly fit."Dazed And Confused" - uncredited cover of the Jake Holmes song (see The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes).
LD: really?"Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" - uncredited version of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down."
"How Many More Times" - Part one is an uncredited cover of the Howlin' Wolf song (available on numerous compilations). Part two is an uncredited cover of Albert King's "The Hunter."
LD: Well, I wouldn't exactly call part 2 uncredited, since it's extremely
common knowledge, freely shared by the boys themselves. It is true, though, that this song is a veritable pastiche of, er, homages, the most obvious one to me being Smokestack Lightning. (BTW, the Hendrix BBC Sessions have a killer version of Smokestack Lightning)."In My Time Of Dying" - uncredited cover of the traditional song (as heard on Bob Dylan's debut).
LD: Get outa town!!! Really?"The Lemon Song" - uncredited cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" -
Wolf's publisher sued Zeppelin in the early 70's and settled out of court.
LD: True"Moby Dick" - uncredited cover of "The Girl I Love" by Bobby Parker.
LD: Tricky, since they actually cover TGIL (the one with long wavy hair,
right?) and MD has no lyrics. It's essentially just a riff, which I have
never heard elsewhere."Nobody's Fault But Mine" - uncredited cover of the Blind Willie Johnson blues.
LD: Really? In any case, it's a fabulous version! I love this song, both
the Presence and No Quarter versions."Stairway To Heaven" - the main guitar line is apparently from "Taurus" by Spirit.
LD: Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I remember from
Spirit is 'I Got a Line on You,' and Page does play on the album this song appears on, which does not, however, include "Taurus," which I do not recall ever hearing."White Summer" - uncredited cover of Davey Graham's "She Moved Through The Fair."
LD: ???"Whole Lotta Love" - lyrics are from the Willie Dixon blues "You Need Love."
LD: OK, granted.
