Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov declared a state of emergency on Aug. 14, citing an "extremely difficult" situation in the region, and said he would request for a federal state of emergency to be declared.

Emergency Situations Minister Aleksandr Kurenkov announced that a federal emergency had been declared during an extraordinary meeting of the Russian government's Commission on Preventing and Eliminating Emergency Situations.

The authorities in Belgorod Oblast have organized "comprehensive assistance to the affected population," Kurenkov said.

"However, the scale of what is happening does not allow the region to independently eliminate the consequences of the current emergency situation," he added.

The Emergency Situations Ministry also said there are reports of "unjustified price increases for food and essential goods" in the region. Kurenkov reportedly instructed the Federal Antimonopoly Service to control the situation.

Gladkov claimed that multiple settlements on the border with Kharkiv Oblast had been attacked over the past day by Ukrainian drones and munitions.

Russian attacks on Kharkiv Oblast are regularly launched from Belgorod Oblast.

Gladkov said on Aug. 13 that 11,000 residents of the region's Krasnoyaruzhsky district, which borders both Kursk and Kharkiv oblasts, had evacuated their homes. The district was home to around 14,000 residents, according to a 2020 census.

De politie werd erbij gehaald omdat de man zich volgens de autoriteiten agressief gedroeg en scheldwoorden gebruikte. Volgens Interfax werd hij gearresteerd omdat hij niet luisterde naar aanwijzingen van de politie.

Op een politiebureau zou de Amerikaan een agente op haar arm hebben geslagen en haar hebben geduwd. "De verdachte weigerde identiteitspapieren te laten zien, waarna hij geweld gebruikte tegen een politiemedewerker", citeert het persbureau een politiewoordvoerder.

During the operation in the Kursk Oblast, Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) special forces captured 102 Russians, including officers and members of the Akhmat unit.

SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk reported that before negotiations with Russia can begin regarding their exchange, the prisoners will first provide testimony and go through the necessary procedures.

During fierce battles in the Kursk Oblast, special forces of the SBU's Center for Special Operations "A" captured 102 Russian military personnel, including members of the Akhmat unit, he said.

"Yesterday (on Aug. 14), we were told that it is likely that families with children will be vacationing with us (at a recreational facility) from the next shift. The free places will be allocated for them. Now this issue is being resolved," the source said.

Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine's President in Crimea, Denys Chystikov, told Suspilne Crimea that the regional branch of the Red Cross in Kerch initiated the resettlement of Kursk Oblast's residents to the territory of the Crimean city.

Thirty-five people had already moved into facilities in Yevpatoriya, Chystikov claimed.
