Alweer in januari maar toen niet gemeld in het topic, James Mtume. Mij voornamelijk bekend als percussionist in mijn favoriete incarnatie van Miles Davis' band (1973-1975), maar daarna ook de nodige sporen verdiend in de R&B.

Als Henderson één album eerder met Miles was gaan spelen, dan had er geen enkel Miles album in mijn top 5 gestaan waar hij niet op speelde (ik kan Bitches Brew niet weglaten uit mjn top 5). Dit was de periode dat Miles meer en meer ruimte gaf aan de groove en Henderson was de perfecte bassist om daar een bodem onder te leggen. 71 is te jong.

The Seekers-zangeres Judith Durham (79) overleden

Durham vormde The Seekers in de jaren zestig samen met Athol Guy, Keith Potger en Bruce Woodley. Het was de eerste Australische groep die wereldwijd succes had, onder meer met de wereldhit I’ll Never Find Another You. Ook in Nederland scoorde de band hits als The Carnival Is Over en A World Of Our Own. Beide singles wisten in het verleden de Top 2000 te halen.
In 1968 verliet Durham de groep om een solocarrière op te starten, maar sinds 1995 trad de band weer regelmatig op. De zangeres kreeg negen jaar geleden een beroerte, waardoor ze niet meer goed kon lezen en schrijven. Zingen bleef ze echter nog wel doen.
