Wat betreft de invloed van Fox News op de publieke opinie: als je continu je publiek aan het opruien bent door bepaalde groepen negatief af te schilderen met woordgebruik icm beelden dat angst en haat kan oproepen (HISPANIC INVASION! RAPE! MURDER! DRUGS!) moet je het natuurlijk niet vreemd vinden dat er idioten zijn die zich aangemoedigd voelen tot actie over te gaan. De Texas shooter was daar een voorbeeld van.
Ik kan me ook nog een onderzoek herinneren naar het taalgebruik bij Fox News tov andere nieuws channels waaruit bleek dat ze het woordje 'hate' onrustbarend veel meer gebruikten ivm de Democraten dan andersom.
Met uitzondering van Chris Wallace overigens.

Soms werkt rancune, zoals in de Fortuyn nasleep, dat is politiek nog steeds uit te buiten. Maar in dit geval blijft het niet plakken, zelfs niet bij hun achterban. De moord op Floyd is een molensteen om de nek van de republikeinen geworden, die kan bijna niet onder de mat worden geveegd.quote:
