Iraq attack: Bombing at Baghdad market kills Eid shoppers
At least 25 people have been killed and dozens more wounded in a bomb attack on a busy market in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, security sources say.
The device exploded in a market, in the northern Sadr City area, as families prepared for the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha on Tuesday.
It was the deadliest bombing in Baghdad in six months.
Islamic State group (IS) has claimed responsibility, saying one of its members detonated an explosive vest.
The Iraqi government declared victory in its war against the Sunni Muslim jihadist group at the end of 2017.
However, sleeper cells continue to wage a low-level insurgency in the country.
IS said it was behind a car bomb blast in April that killed four people at another market in Sadr City, which is predominantly Shia Muslim.
It also claimed a twin suicide bombing attack in January in Tayaran Square that left 32 people dead. That was the deadliest bombing in the capital in three years.

Het meest trieste van die Syrië oorlog is nog wel dat Assad nog steeds het grootste gedeelte van het land regeert, alleen is het land veel armer, instabieler en het regime nog meedogenlozer geworden.quote:

Aan de grens met Turkije had de VS zich teruggetrokken volgens mij. Daar wordt de YPG beschermd door de Russen. Nu de Russen zich terugtrekken uit Syrië ziet Turkije een kans. Dit is mijn analyse. Misschien slaat het nergens op.
In Turkije is er nu een PVV achtige partij die de laatste tijd veel aan populariteit wint. Die partij wil Syriërs terugsturen naar Syrië. Misschien dat dat ook speelt.

Ik vind erdogan niks. Moet wel toegeven dat hij een man is van zijn woord. Hij wilt alle Ottomaanse grondgebieden heroveren en toont dat ook echt aan op de slagveld.

Hij ziet gewoon een open deur nu en toevallig komt t hem wel goed uit. De lira gaat weer lekker, gedoe in eigen land met tanende populariteit. Dus makkelijk scoren voor t simpele volk.

Amerika Iran Syrië en Rusland steunt erdos plannen niet. Ik denk niet dat hij een militaire invasie in zal zetten zonder de steun van Amerika. Want in dat gebied zijn ook Amerikaanse soldaten aanwezig.quote:

Na Amerika verklaard Rusland ook dat er geen steun is voor een erdogan aanval op Syrië. Ook onder de turken is er tegenwoordig weinig steun voor erdo:

This came during the protest of thousands of displaced people from Afrin and residents of the northern countryside of Aleppo in front of the headquarters of the Russian forces in the village of al-Wahshiya. The protesters denounced the recent Turkish threats to launch a new military operation 30 km deep in northern within Syria.
A delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) met with Russian General Mikhail. The latter pledged that “the Russian forces and the Syrian government forces will not allow the Turkish forces to advance.”
The protestors raised banners that wrote no to the Turkish demographic change in the north of Syria. Demographic change, building settlements, and resettlement are a crime against the peoples of the region and its history. No to the Adana agreement.
The Adana Agreement was concluded between Turkey and Syria on 20 October 1998 in the Turkish city of Adana and included the following points: Syria would not permit any activity which was deemed as “jeopardizing the security and stability” of Turkey.
Under the Adana agreement, Turkey has the right to enter up to 5km (3 miles) inside the border with Syria – but they cannot remain for long.
The protesters considered that Turkey’s calls to establish the so-called safe zone and build settlements are nothing but Turkish bases inside the Syrian depth. They main aim is new demographic change, which is a crime against the Syrians.
The protesters called on the Russian Federation, as one of the guarantor countries on Syrian territory, to pressure the Turkish government to end its occupation of Syrian territory and prevent it from launching another aggression. They also demanded Russia stop the so-called establishment of safe areas and settlement operations.
