Ik denk dat Giuliani geslachtoffert gaat worden vanwege zijn dubieuze rol van persoonlijke advocaat versus overheidsdiplomaten. Op die manier kan de GOP zeggen dat ze iets aan die verschrikkelijke situatie hebben gedaan en tegelijkertijd Trump buiten schot houden.

Nog een overpeinzing van mijn kant: die Sondland lijkt mij niet de belangrijkste schakel in dit onderzoek. De tekstberichten wijzen uit hoe hij dingen onder de pet probeert te houden via telefoongesprekken ipv tekst. Ik verwacht van hem sowieso al geen loyaliteit aan de waarheid, maar loyaliteit aan de macht.

Het verschil is dat in dat geval moeilijk te bewijzen viel of Trump daarvan op de hoogte was en bovendien Cohen afgeschilderd kon worden als een onbetrouwbare getuige. Bovendien was Trump nog geen president toen dit zich afspeelde.quote:
