Hier kan ik me volledig in vinden, op puntje 9 en 10 na. Daar ben ik nog niet helemaal over uit:
quote:
This is the first Battlefield for which my dislike over-exceeds my excitement (*Hardline cough, we don't talk about that over-marketed mod), and I've played them all. Battlefield V even makes me reminisce about Battlefield 1. Sad times. A lot of flaws and weird design choices. I don't understand the changes they made, and I don't understand who they made them for.
0- I'm not even going to mention any balancing issues. There are just too many. And to be fair, balancing issues could be fixed in a day, they're not core-game issues.
1- The customization is just awful.. Remember when you could customize your weapons, and it actually had an effect on your weapon? Nooo let's get rid of all that, move all actual modding to a linear tree system, which can only be accessed outside of the gameplay, is unchangeable after you spend currency on it, make players buy a duplicate weapon and start the tree all over again if they want to try something else.
2- Graphics don't look that great to me. Playing on Ultra. By all means, it's not "bad" bad, but in comparison to BF1 it's definitely a dropped ball. Sure, BF1 was a bit glossy, but at least everything was well defined and contrasted correctly, with HD textures. Just ook at BFV's Rotterdam map, where the sun is so bright it turns everything into a washed-out 2-dimensional overexposed mess. While standing in front of a building, the interiors look pitch black, and the outside looks bright yellow, I am unable to see any detail. That's just one example. The character models look really washed-out as well. I looked up characters from BF4 because I thought maybe I was going crazy, but even those look way better.
3- Sound effects sound terrible to me. Especially in comparison to BF1, where everything sounds so very very good, this sounds like Battlefield in a can, quite literally. Everything sounds so hollow and/or weak. Explosions should blow you back, not sound like firecrackers, right?
4- The squad-spawn system is just horrible. You're not getting any tactical info and the graphics are jerky. Just put me directly into the total overview please.
5- Remember vehicle warfare being a big part of Battlefield? I understood why BF1 was more infantry focused, but WW2? Really? It should be 50-50, but it's 80-20 right now. Seeing a tank riding around is more of a gimmick, than part of the gameplay.
6- Vaulting/climbing is derpy AF. Half the time it doesn't even work, and I end up spamming spacebar, looking like a fool trying to step over a hedge.
7- The animations for entering/exiting vehicles take waaaaay to long. For example: I tried jumping out of the passenger seat of a plane, but by the time the animation was over, the plane was on the other side of the map and out of bounds for infantry. Seriously?
8- Animations and movement in general are jerky, glitchy and clunky. Especially vertical movement: I have not once seen the hands of the character actually grab on to anything it was trying to climb on, they just float above it in the air. The game just feels derpy and clunky.
9- I don't like the ammo/health system and the animations that come with it. What was wrong with every Battlefield game that came before this exactly?
10- The revive system I could take or leave. But if I had a choice, I'd go back to the original BF mechanics. In any case, the wait-times are way too long, but that's easily fixable.
The things that I do like are the way gunplay feels, the fortification system is kind of interesting I guess, and the removal of the dorito spotting system is great. That's about it. In any case, together with the fact that the predictions for the playerbase are already very low, I will not be buying this game. Well maybe if it ever goes on sale for like 10 bucks or something.
