Nelson Piquet jr verkast naar Jaguar Racing. Hij gaat daar rijden samen met Mitch Evans. Ho-Pin Tung blijft reservecoureur.

Voor het eerst in 60 jaar zal er weer een formule autorace in Zwitserland gehouden gaan worden. Zurich is toegevoegd aan de kalender voor 2017/2018. Het verbod op dit soort races is in 2015 geschrapt voor elektrische auto's.

Dat is nog niet zeker, Zürich is er namelijk niet zo blij mee en in de komende weken gaat de gemeenteraad er over discussiëren.

En weer is een puzzelstukje op zijn plaats gevallen. Luca Filippi gaat voor NIO rijden in plaats van Nelson Piquet jr, die naar Jaguar is gegaan.

De kansen voor Robin Frijns worden wel een stuk kleiner. Eigenlijk alleen bij Andretti, als hij daar kan blijven, of Venturi, die een shoot-out wil gaan houden.

Deze week is er een collectieve test op het circuit van Valencia. Zowel vandaag, morgen als donderdag wordt er getest. Naast de coureurs die al bevestigd zijn komen er enkele nieuwe coureurs in actie.

Voor Andretti komen naast Antonio Felx da Costa ook Alexander Sims en Tom Blomqvist in actie en voor Venturi komen naast Maro Engel ook James Rossiter, Edoardo Mortara en Michael Benyahia in actie. Geen Robin Frijns of Nyck de Vries dus.

Kamui Kobayashi gaat voor Andretti Racing de eerste race in Hong Kong rijden in de plaats van Tom Blomqvist. Dit om sponsor MS&AD tevreden te houden. De verwachting is dat Blomqvist wel de rest van de races gaat rijden en in het geval van eventuele clashes met de DTM of WEC vervangen wordt door Alexander Sims.

Op het moment van posten was er ook geen sprake van. Zeker niet omdat hij niet goed genoeg zou zijn of zo. Hij presteerde beter dan Felix Da Costa en Andretti had al aangegeven graag met hem door te willen, maar uiteindelijk was het BMW die hem niet wilde hebben vanwege zijn activiteiten voor Audi.
