Hi, my name is Mat Harding - I used to be in the band mclusky until we fell out. I am fortunately in a new welsh band called Transposer, they sound nothing like mclusky but they are great.

mclusky release the first fruits of their recent sessions with Steve Albini in the form of 'Undress For Success'. Available August 25th, to coincide with their appearance at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, the single also features much loved live favourite 'Join The Mevolution' and 'The Salt Water Solution'.

Ben benieuwd, in elk geval.
Rob Kleckner and Amy Phillips report:
The best part about calling it quits with your short-lived band is putting together a compilation set, one that you'll be reaping the rewards from for years to come. Generations from now, people won't even remember that Mclusky had real, full-length albums, but they'll all have their trusty copy of the anthology Mcluskyism, due out February 27 on Too Pure.
The collection will be divided into three sections: A-sides, B-sides, and C-sides. Now I'm no rocket scientist, but I've been looking at my "Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues" single for hours and I can't seem to find the C-side. Regardless, you can collect this music in two ways: a 3xCD set for the Mcluxurious and a single disc of just the A-sides for the Mcfrugal.

In a press release, guitarist Andy Falkous candidly discussed Mcluskyism, offering such gems as: "The A-sides disc was a great idea anyway, except for 'Joy' (a lot of people rate it, and I'm none of them), although there remains a slight regret that we never actually got to release 'Without MSG I Am Nothing' as an actual single before the band imploded in a powder-puff of unfettered realism and cant; it is included here because it should be."
"I have more of a problem with the B-sides disc...some of the songs stunk the place out so much that I actually started crying at one point during mastering."
And, on the subject of haters who complain about the rarities that were or weren't included on "C-sides":
"The C-sides disc of demos, live songs and session tracks was a great idea, but you didn't have to compile it. You didn't have to shiftily sift through boxes upon boxes of unmarked CDRS, inlays helpfully marked with messages such as 'Song 3 has AIDS', or try to justify the time spent on it to yourself and the people who surround it. Certainly, I could have used those 6 or so hours more constructively, like for sleeping or petting a cat."
Petting a cat for six straight hours?!?! For the health of both Falkous's hands and his feline's fur, we hope that's a euphemism.
It's been almost two years since Mclusky's final album, The Difference Between Me and You Is That I'm Not on Fire. Since then, Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone have been working together in an as-yet-unnamed band, while bassist Jon Chapple has been busy with his new group, Shooting at Unarmed Men. Said unarmed men will shoot at England, Belgium, Holland, and France on tour in March, and their full-length debut is due out on Too Pure in April.

quote:Mclusky Dudes Return as Future of the Left
Future of the Left Following the break-up of short-lived but much-loved Welsh trio Mclusky, former frontman Andy Falkous is going back to the future, embarking on a new project with ex-Mclusky drummer Jack William Egglestone and bassist/vocalist Kelson Louis Tregurtha Mathias. (I'm loving these Welsh prep school boy names!). Falkous plays guitar and provides vocals for the Cardiff-based trio, who came together originally last year as a quartet and call themselves Future of the Left.
Future of the Left has posted a few demos on their MySpace, where they've described themselves as "beholden to loud rock music." Expect them to rock loudly at a smattering of shows around the UK this September, beginning tonight.
09-01 London, England - Monarch
09-02 Brighton, England - Engine Rooms
09-08 Southampton, England - Joiners Arms
09-09 Bath, England - Moles
09-10 Cardiff, Wales - Clwb Ifor Bach
As for other Mclusky members, ex-bassist Jon Chapple recently put out an album with Shooting at Unarmed Men (for which he handles guitar/vocals), while ex-ex-drummer Mat Harding is lending his stick skills to kooky Cornish band Bugga.
