Inmiddels zijn al meerdere vluchten geschrapt. Tyfoon Nida ligt momenteel voor de kust van China en zal vanavond of morgenochtend landfall maken in de buurt van Hong Kong.
De kerndruk is gezakt naar 978 mb, waarbij een wind staat van 138 km/u met windstoten tot bijna 160 km. De verwachting is dat de kerndruk nog verder daalt en de kracht dus verder zal toenemen. Na de landfall zal de tyfoon verder China intrekken waarbij het zeer veel neerslag zal achterlaten.

According to Airport Authority flight information, at least 42 passenger flights were cancelled on Monday, with a further 35 scheduled to be suspended on Tuesday. At least 47 flights scheduled to arrive on Monday were also cancelled.
Cathay Pacific and Dragonair announced at noon that all departures and arrivals to Hong Kong International Airport between 10pm on Monday and 2pm on Tuesday would be suspended as a result of the storm.
Cancelled departing flights included CX905 to Manila, CX709 to Bangkok, CX408 to Taipei, KA110 to Dhaka, KA996 to Beijing and a handful of other flights to Europe and Australia.
The airlines reminded passengers to check the latest flight information online before departing for the airport and encouraged them to postpone non-essential travel.

According to Hong Kong International Airport's website, 181 flights scheduled to depart or arrive Hong Kong between Monday and Tuesday have been canceled.
All Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair flights scheduled to go through Hong Kong between 10 p.m. local time on Monday until 2 p.m. the next day will be suspended, the airlines said in a press statement.
The Hong Kong Observatory issued a Tropical Cyclone Signal 3 Monday at midday, closing all kindergarten schools and special needs classes. It will raise the signal to a level eight later in the evening.
"The weather will deteriorate rapidly after sunset. There will be squalls, heavy rain and rough seas. There may be flooding in low-lying areas," the Observatory said.
Nida is expected to arrive during high tide increasing the threat of flooding, it noted.
China's National Meteorological Center also issued an orange alert warning for gales and torrential rain in its southern provinces. It is the second-highest level on the country's four-tier weather warning system.
People in affected areas have been instructed to stock up on daily necessities to last one to three days, the China National Commission for Disaster Reduction said, according to Xinhua.

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd. said its annual general meeting on Tuesday could be postponed.
Under trading rules, Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. will cancel premarket trading if a signal 8 warning is in force between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. There will be no morning session if such a warning is lowered after 9 a.m. and no trading for the day if it’s still in force after noon.
Should a Storm Signal No. 10 be issued, it will be the first since typhoon Vincente in July 2012, according to Hong Kong Observatory data.
Winds of up to 145 kilometers per hour (90 miles per hour) were reported in some parts of the city, according to the Hong Kong Observatory, which also warned of the potential risks of flooding.....
