Have you any tips to choose a Dutch bank? Which one is the best? Why? Are there some where you can get free credit/debit card? And, is that needed/recommended to change bank when we stay to study/work to Netherlands? [ Bericht 28% gewijzigd door #ANONIEM op 31-01-2016 00:32:04 ]

Choose whatever you like: Rabobank, ABN, ING. None of them charge for withdrawals and creditcards are like 10eu per year unless you're a student, then it's free. Interest rates are pretty much the same.

Student accounts are only applicable, to those who receive their Dutch student loans on the particular account. Besides the credit cards acceptance is quite low, so you should be looking for a debit card anyway (Of the Maestro brand, as this is the most accepted one). About the banks: ABN, ING and Rabobank have a combined market share of approximately 90% in the retail banking sector. As a result, their offerings are very comparable and competition is almost non-existent. Unfortunately the banks are not too eager to open accounts for foreign nationals, therefore I recommend sticking with whatever bank offers you to actually open an account. Best chances at ING, although it can greatly vary from branch to branch.

I chose ASN Bank because they care more about the planet than shareholders. |
