I hesitate to pass my driver license before come in the Netherlands. So to make my choice I need some info about the Driver License there ![]() -> Is it necessary or better to have a driver license to find a part-time job ? How long does it take to get it ? It depends on what kind of job you're looking for, but yeah... that may help. There are 'ultra fast courses' of 10 days fulltime I think. But how fast you actually get it depends on your driving talents. The theoretical tests are quite tough.

Just to be sure, do you already have a drivers license, obtained in France? In that case you can just exchange your French license for a Dutch license at your local municipality.

I don't know if you can take the theory exam in English.. You are required to pass that before the practical exam.

The Dutch driving license is amongst the hardest and most expensive to obtain among European licenses. Think 2500 Euro or so. Luckily for those coming from other EU member states + a few other selected jurisdictions it is possible (and obligatory) to exchange your license for a Dutch one. When the exchange possibility is applicable it might be advantageous to get your license in advance, before moving. Although I believe, there is some 6 months limit, to prevent Dutchies obtaining a license when on holidays. So this might be worth some research if you are moving very soon.

I know an user registered on this forum who knows EVERYTHING about drivers licenses. This person is called Braddie: it took him around 5 tries and thousands of euro's to finally pass his exam. If you wish to contact him, you can do so by clicking DM/PM while on his profile. I'm certain he would be glad to help you. Good luck!

You can keep it. But as a resident of the Netherlands you are not allowed to drive with a foreign license. Therefore after registering with the local authorities, you request to exchange your French License for a Dutch one. You do not need to pass some exams and also you do not need to pay fees, other than the fee that applies for issuing the card (just like people have to pay, when they prolong or lose their cards). Upon return to France you are able to exchange your Dutch license back to a French one.

Okay, thanks, I've search on Internet and found that exchange in France is not required (except if you lose points) and in the Netherlands, as resident, you can drive during 15 years with a foreign license: https://www.rdw.nl/englis(...)sh/Driving%20licence & http://www.iamsterdam.com(...)ters/driving-licence [ Bericht 5% gewijzigd door #ANONIEM op 10-01-2016 11:33:13 ]

You have to be 18. You can go to the website www.altijdgeslaagd.nl, there's a Turkisch guy called Saïd Cinar who gives you all the answers to pass the test. Good luck! |
