Overview:
Next week INDYCAR will announce the formation of an official Verizon IndyCar Series sim racing league, which will be centered upon the existing 16th Street Racing League – a longstanding iRacing hosted league that was created in 2009 by INDYCAR/IMS employees Brian Simpson and Tony George Jr. The 16th Street Racing League is the premiere IndyCar sim racing league featuring the best IndyCar sim racers in the world and highlighted by participation from many real-world Verizon IndyCar Series drivers, including: Will Power, Simon Pagenaud, Sage Karam, Sebastian Saavedra and others.
All of the league’s races will be broadcast live on IndyCar.com, complete with commentators and race stewards, and held on many of the racetracks that are staples on the Verizon IndyCar Series schedule. INDYCAR will collaborate with iRacing and RACER magazine to promote the series and leverage their relationships with current Verizon IndyCar Series drivers, as well as drivers in the Mazda Road to Indy ladder system, to expand the participation of professional drivers.

The success of this partnership with RACER & INDYCAR is contingent upon real life drivers competing in the series and we will be inviting real life drivers from all over the world of motorsports to participate in the series full time. With this renewed focus on the league there will be several adjustments to the format and structure, which include:
*Races will take place on Tuesday nights. Race rooms will open for practice at 6:30PM for a 90 minute session.
*Qualifying (beginning at 8pm ET) formats will follow previous seasons as we will break up the field into odd and even numbered cars during open qualifying sessions. Oval sessions will be single car qualifying as they have been in the past. Indy qualifying will take place over two days and will be open to ALL those wishing to enter a car into qualifying. This includes drivers not competing in the other events.
*We’re going to revise the series to be an invite only league and there will no longer be a transfer race for each event. If you are interested in participating, please provide your name, car number and car/team name in the thread below. We will announce the roster early next week as well as the waiting list and order. Please keep in mind that if you miss more than two races in a row, you will sacrifice your reserved grid spot and it will be given to the next available person on the waiting list.
We're very excited about this partnership and can't wait to get started! It's going to be a great year!
