A severe thunderstorm pummelled the northern beaches yesterday with hail, lightening and heavy rain however there were no reports of damaged property.
A State Emergency Services spokeswoman said a team was called out to one job on the northern beaches with a tree down on Mccarrs Creek Rd about 1pm.
Meanwhile on Facebook, readers shared stories of lightening, hail and rain.
Kim Sagoa said “Our garden furniture was tossed around the yard” while Jackie Smyth and Jamie-lee Harker confirmed it was hailing in Narrabeen and Melissa James said “Lightning just hit or almost hit the tree on our back fence line at Collaroy plateau loudest noise I’ve ever heard!”
Bureau of Meteorology spokesman David Barlow said the northern beaches area with the heaviest rainfall was Mona Vale with 13mm of rain in 20 minutes then Cromer with 9mm in 20 minutes and in Avalon with 7mm in 20 minutes.
