Bij mij is een vitamine D tekort geconstateerd en kamp ik ook al een paar maanden met een vette huid (had ik voorheen nooit last van). En toen kwam ik op internet ineens een artikel tegen wat mij ineens aan het denken zat:

Acne: An Interesting Theory
His theory is basically that acne is caused by low vitamin D. And the reason people with acne have oily skin is that the body is in need of vitamin D, so it produces lots of oil. Why oil? Because the body is trying to make the precursor to vitamin D, which is a form of cholesterol (the process of making vitamin D in the human body involves exposing a certain type of cholesterol, found in the skin, to sunlight).
So in other words, the human body is in dire need of vitamin D, so it starts producing oil on the skin to up the vitamin D production. But if that person isn’t getting much sunlight, because they sit inside a lot or it’s winter and there just isn’t much sunlight, then not enough of the cholesterol in that oil is going to be converted into vitamin D. So the body just produces MORE oil as its only hope against the low vitamin D levels.
