Rangers Acquire Forward Daniel Carcillo

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Daniel Carcillo from Los Angeles in exchange for a conditional seventh round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Carcillo, 28, has registered one goal and one assist, along with 57 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Los Angeles Kings this season. He is currently tied for first on the Kings with five fighting majors. Carcillo notched the game-winning goal and added an assist on October 13th at Florida. On November 23rd, he was credited with a season-high, six hits.
Last season, Carcillo was a member of the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup championship team, tallying two goals and one assist in 23 games. He also registered one assist and a plus-two rating in four postseason appearances during the 2013 playoffs.
The 6-0, 200-pounder has skated in 359 career contests over eight seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, and Los Angeles Kings, registering 41 goals and 48 assists for 89 points, along with 1,136 penalty minutes. Carcillo established career-highs in goals (13), assists (11), points (24), power play assists (five), power play points (eight), and penalty minutes (324) during the 2007-08 season. His 324 penalty minutes led the league, and he was tied for sixth in the NHL with 20 fighting majors. He also posted his first career hat trick that season, on April 4th at Dallas, and followed it up with a two-goal performance in the next game on April 6th at Anaheim. Carcillo made his NHL debut with Phoenix on March 3rd, 2007, against Columbus, and registered his first career point with a power play goal on March 10th, 2007, against Chicago.
The King City, Ontario native was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins as a third round choice, 73rd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
