Wiel Coerver (Kerkrade, 3 december 1924 – aldaar, 22 april 2011) was Nederlands een voetballer en voetbaltrainer. Vanwege zijn geavanceerde trainingsmethoden werd hij omschreven als de 'Albert Einstein van het voetbal' en gold hij in zijn tijd als één van de baanbrekende voetbalcoaches.

Coerver was een meer dan verdienstelijk voetballer en werd met Rapid JC, de voorloper van het huidige Roda JC, in 1956 kampioen van Nederland. Als coach won hij met Feyenoord in 1974 de UEFA Cup en de nationale titel. Hij trainde daarnaast nog enkele andere clubs, waaronder Sparta, N.E.C. en Go Ahead Eagles. Zijn eerste baan waarin hij aan de slag ging als trainer werd de amateurclub SVN, die hij tussen 1959 en 1964 via titels en kampioenschappen optrok tot de top van het amateurvoetbal: met ongewoon attractief, technisch voetbalspel. Vrijwel de helft van de spelers van Coervers eerste succeselftal werd midden jaren zestig meteen weggekocht door betaalde clubs.

Coerver was ook de eerste voetbaltrainer die, met zijn interesse voor de balfysica en in zijn streven naar perfectie, gebruikmaakte van de kennis van bewegingswetenschappers, onder andere van onderzoekers van de universiteit in Nijmegen.

Wiel Coerver is echter vooral bekend geworden met de Coerver-methode, die gericht is op zo volledig mogelijke balbeheersing, aangevuld met de nodige techniek. Coerver is in tal van landen actief geweest om zijn methode aan jeugdige voetballers te onderwijzen. Ook zijn er boeken en dvd's uitgebracht om de oefenstof duidelijk te maken. De Coerver-methode wordt in tal van landen door vele nationale voetbalbonden en clubs omarmd, onder andere door de jeugdafdeling van Manchester United.

De voetbaltrainer uit Kerkrade werd in 2007 benoemd tot ridder in de orde van Oranje-Nassau

Op 24 mei 2008 werd Wiel Coerver door de Coaches Betaald Voetbal (CBV) onderscheiden met de Oeuvreprijs beste trainer/coach. Deze prijs kreeg hij uitgereikt uit handen van Kees Rijvers.

Coerver kampte met hartproblemen; voor zijn gezondheid had hij het doktersadvies gekregen meer te werken in landen met een warmer klimaat. Hij overleed op 86-jarige leeftijd aan de gevolgen van een longontsteking.

Hij is twee keer bij Ajax geweest en is vanaf augustus 2014 met het gezin 3 maanden in Nederland verbleven. Hij trainde een week mee met de onder 12 van Ajax maar dat kreeg de FIFA in de gaten. Ze zochten naar een oplossing en Ajax stelde voor om bij een amateurclub te gaan spelen. Toen kwam Feyenoord en hebben ze toestemming gegeven om hem daar mee te laten trainen. Volgens het artikel kon dat wel omdat Feyenoord minder in de gaten wordt gehouden door de FIFA.

Na die 3 maanden zijn ze weer terug gegaan naar Jakarta en nu wachten/hopen ze op een verblijfsvergunning. Hij zou dan zonder stage of proefperiode direct aan kunnen sluiten bij Ajax of Feyenoord.
