I don't know how late this answer is, but dont hire a bike at all from any of them. We had a really frightening experiance after renting two bikes at Owens which is joined to the supermarket, opposite a petrol station in Sairee. We were very careful, nothing happened then when we returned them they invented damages. The woman got hysterical, was grabbing us, made my friends arm bleed and was pushing and shoving her, she was pushing me also but I was bigger then her (Im also a girl) she threatened us that she knew where we were staying and that we had to pay. (she also had our passports, Yes, stupid we realise now. Coming from countries where people are relatively honest and there are police when there are problems...) It seemed outrageous to pay since nothing was wrong at all with the bikes, I said I woud go to the police, she said it didnt matter if I did, she paid the police. My friend was crying and then wanted to just pay the 6,000 bt I said not too, they split us up. She paid, then they got me and said now we find problem with your bike, took out the form and made up 3,000 worth of damages. Then she told me I was a bad bad person and I had to say sorry, that I had to get down on my knees and beg her while she took photos. I said no way and went to the police. The police said she is crazy woman she does to everyone. None of them wanted to come with me, wanted to stay there with feet up watching the tv.. Finally one did but when we got there just kept saying just pay the money. so I did. It wasnt till after I realised what a crazy dangerous scene it all was and we spent the rest of our time there terrified of seeing them and being taken up to some shack. Very scary. The island is small and the roads are awful. Much better to hire a long tail boat and agree on a price, and stop at the beaches. I wish we had done that. I have no problems with paying a fair price for rental, instead of the ridiculously low 150 bht and then exorbitant charges for non existant damages. The whole experiance has completley put me off thailand. Shows the whole deep rooted corruption and the resentment and hatred of 'rich' tourists. But then, so many tourists are rude and patronising because their dollar is worth so much, or maybe that is just generally how they treat people. Who knows which, but the whole thing is very ugly.
dont hire a bike or jet ski
Laat maar..
