David Bowie surprised the world in 2013 when he released his first single in a decade, Where Are We Now, but the musician has given a little more warning about his forthcoming new material.
A statement from Bowie was read out on Saturday at a fundraising event for the Terrance Higgins Trust in a bar in Denmark Alley, London.
It read: "This city is even better than the one you were in last year, so remember to dance, dance, dance. And then sit down for a minute, knit something, then get up and run all over the place. Do it. Love on ya. More music soon. David"
Bowie's spokesperson confirmed to the NME that the singer had written the statement.
The Next Day, which Bowie released in March 2013, was recorded in great secrecy, with the singer having to change studios after rumours leaked that he was making new music. The record went on to top the UK charts and peak at number two in the US Billboard charts.
Many fans hoped that the new material would encourage Bowie to perform live for the first time since 2006, but he is yet to announce any plans to tour and didn't even appear at the opening of his V&A retrospective, David Bowie Is. When he won Best British Male at the Brit Awards in February, he sent Kate Moss to collect the award for him, with the speech: ""I'm completely delighted to have a Brit for being the best male - but I am, aren't I Kate? Yes. I think it's a great way to end the day. Thank you very, very much and Scotland stay with us."

Sue (or In a Season of Crime) will feature on Nothing Has Changed, which spans 50 years of Bowie’s career
David Bowie has announced his first new music since he surprised the world by returning in 2013 with the single Where Are We Now, followed by the album The Next Day.
His new single Sue (or In a Season of Crime) – which lasts nearly eight minutes – was recorded with long-time collaborator Tony Visconti especially for inclusion on a new compilation, Nothing Has Changed, which spans 50 years of Bowie from 1964 to 2014. It will be given a separate release as a digital download and as a limited-edition 10in single.
Nothing Has Changed also features rarities to lure in Bowiephiles. Let Me Sleep Beside You comes from the 2001 sessions from the unreleased album Toy; Your Turn to Drive, previously only available as a download, makes its debut on CD; and there is a 2001 rerecording of the 1971 outtake Shadow Man.
The single and compilation will be released on 17 November. Nothing Has Changed will be available in 3CD, 2CD, double vinyl and download formats.

Jammer dat het na The Next Day Extra wéér nieuw werk is dat niet op een regulier album zonder oudere nummers verschijnt. 98% van de rest heb ik al.

Ik heb deze week al mijn David Bowie LP's onder het stof vandaan gehaald. Sommige had ik al jaren niet meer geluisterd.
Mijn favorieten zijn nu "The man who sold the world", "Hunky Dory" en "Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars".
Zijn laatste album begin ik ook eindelijk te waarderen.
