Overigens ook een groot deel van race 1 gemist dus ik hoop dat de torrent snel beschikbaar is. Daarnaast ben ik ook wel benieuwd naar de AMA Supercross race van vanmorgen onze tijd, de strijd tussen Wilson en Tomac is geweldig!

AMA Supercross, Salt Lake City, 28 april

De een-na-laatste ronde van de AMA Supercross, volgende week eindigt het in Las Vegas.

In de 250cc is het nog niet beslist, Dean Wilson staat 4 punten voor Eli Tomac en Cole Seely staat 15 punten achter maar is afgevoerd na een crash in de training.

Over twee weken begint de AMA Motocross in Hangtown op 19 mei en zal eindigen op 8 september in Lake Elsinore. In totaal zijn er twaalf ronde's met Wilson (250cc) en Villopoto (450cc) als de titelverdedigers. Ze rijden 2 Heats van 30 minuten + 2 ronde's in beide klasses en in de 250cc rijden ze allemaal in een kampioenschap.

Winning an FIM World Motocross Championship is all about being consistent and trying to finish on the podium at every single Grand Prix. All the great riders from the past have always said it’s on their worst day that they actually win their titles and not on their best day.

This year is just three rounds old, but already there is a major amount of consistency from the two Red Bull KTM Factory riders and series leaders Antonio Cairoli (MX1) and Jeffrey Herlings (MX2).

After three rounds of the FIM World Motocross Championship it’s Red Bull KTM Factory rider Herlings who is the most consistent rider in the complete series. The Flying Dutchman has been on fire scoring four moto wins and two second places in Holland, Bulgaria and Italy.

While Herlings seems in pretty good control at the moment, as he leads the FIM MX2 Championship points by a massive 30 points over his fellow KTM team-mate Jeremy Van Horebeek, anything can happen in the sport of Motocross as some of his rivals have found out.

Van Horebeek has also been pretty consistent, just on a lower level than Herlings. The Belgian has scored four fourth place finishes, a third and a second place.

British rider Tommy Searle looked likely to produce something special when he left the Sevlievo circuit in Bulgaria with victory, but a disappointing Grand Prix of Italy turned that all around as he struggled for points after crashes and mechanical problems.

Searle has gone 2-3-3-1-31-2, all but his 31st place in the opening moto in Italy looking good, but did he lose his chance to be 2012 FIM World MX2 Champion in that opening moto?

Belgian Joel Roelants the teammate of Searle also struggled in Italy after starting the season on-fire. Roelants had gone 3-2-1-4 before going 30th in the opening moto in Italy and then failing to make the second moto at all, so no points from his Italian adventure.

The MX1 class is a similar story with Cairoli looking as strong as ever as he starts the series with 1-1-4-3-3-1. Cairoli has looks like he was cruising as some races, not taking risks and continuing to build on his points lead.

His closest rival until this point is Frenchman Gautier Paulin. Unfortunately Paulin obviously suffered at the opening round in Valkenswaard with 4-7 results; however since then he has scored a very impressive 2-1-2-6 score card.

When you talk about bad starts costing you major points then another Frenchman Christophe Pourcel is the perfect example. He scored a 32nd place in the opening moto of the 2012 FIM World MX1 Championship, but then went 9-1-2-2-1. Take away his Valkenswaard disappointment and he is the man of the moment, but did he leave it too late?

How about Clement Desalle? The tough Belgian hasn’t had the best of starts to the season. Last year he was on fire, starting the season with 2-1-5-6-1-1, but this year he hasn’t looked nearly as good going 2-2-3-18-4-3.

Apart from the previously mentioned riders, only Steven Frossard has finished inside the top three with his 3-3 result in Valkenswaard, although the Frenchman injured himself in Bulgaria and hasn’t scored any points since.

Herlings snelste in de training, Coldenhoff is er ook weer bij.

Ze vonden de baan gevaarlijk en er werd niet gesproeid ondanks dat het stoffig was dus hebben de Europese rijders niet gereden, alleen Anstie wel.

Zie dat de eerste manche bij de MX2 al verreden is, Herlings loopt uit.

Ben aan het kijken wie de meeste GP's won en nu zie ik dat Van den Berk maar 6 GP's won, klopt dat? Kees van der Ven had er bijvoorbeeld 17 en Strijbos 27 dus ik twijfel of het wel klopt want V/d Berk won 2 wereldtitels.

Ik ben te jong om dat nog te herinneren, maar ben al wel een eind gekomen met die lijst. Joel Smets staat tweede met 57 GP's en Joel Robert derde met 50 GP's. En Cairoli heeft inmiddels 45 GP's gewonnen dus die zal daar wel overheen gaan volgend jaar.

James Stewart Signs With Yoshimura Suzuki, Will Race Lucas Oil Motocross

Over the weekend, word came down that James Stewart and JGR had split ways. Today Stewart made his next move official, announcing a multi-year deal with Yoshimura Suzuki. Stewart will join new teammate Brett Metcalfe in contesting the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, beginning with the season opener at Hangtown on May 19th.

Yoshimura Suzuki Racing is proud to announce the signing of famed Supercross and Motocross Champion, James Stewart, to a multi-year contract effective immediately. Stewart will compete in both AMA Pro Motocross and Supercross aboard the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 beginning with the first round of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Sacramento, CA on May 19th,2012.

Stewart, often called the “fastest man on the planet”, comes to Yoshimura Suzuki with a long list of accomplishments. The 26-year old, native Floridian has amassed 6 AMA Championships, including two AMA Supercross titles and a perfect season, AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Tyla Rattray Moves Up to the 450 Class, Will Fill In for Villopoto

Ivan Tedesco Re-Unites with Pro Circuit Kawasaki

Riding in the 450 class back in 2009, Tedesco finished 3rd in the points race. He also has a 125 class championship under his belt from his last stint with Pro Circuit in 2005. For the 2012 season, he'd ride in the 250 class for Team Green alongside some of the circuit's top contenders in Dean Wilson, Blake Baggett and Darryn Durham.

No deal has been officially announced yet, but Tedesco's already been out practicing on the Pro Circuit Kawasaki 250F. He recently addressed the pending deal through twitter.

ONK Axel, morgen.

Op Tweede Pinksterdag gaat organisator RES Axel geschiedenis schrijven door voor de eerste keer een wedstrijd om het KNMV Open Nederlands Kampioenschap motocross te organiseren in Zeeland. De beste motocrossers komen naar het RES Motocrosscircuit voor de zesde wedstrijd van het kampioenschap.

De verwachting is dat de 17-jarige Jeffrey Herlings zich in Axel zal gaan verzekeren van zijn tweede Nederlandse titel op het hoogste niveau. De KTM-rijder heeft in het MX2 kampioen 67 punten voorsprong op Glenn Coldenhoff en na de wedstrijd in Axel is er nog slechts een wedstrijd te verrijden. Helings mag dus 17 punten verliezen op zijn KTM-collega maar gezien de reeds behaalde resultaten lijkt dit zeer ongebruikelijk. De strijd om de tweede plek is wel heftig want naast Coldenhoff maken ook Joel Roelants en Jake Nicholls nog kans op de vice-titel. De enige Zeeuw in deze klasse is Mark Boot uit Burgh Haamstede, hij bezet momenteel de 27e plek in de tussenstand. Hopelijk kan hij in Axel lekker scoren en daarmee plaatsen goed maken in het kampioenschap.

In de MX1 zal de titelstrijd gaan tussen Evgeny Bobryshev en Herjan Brakke. De Rus begon heel sterk aan het kampioenschap maar door een blessure kwam hij niet in actie in Emmen. Die wedstrijd werd gewonnen door Brakke die daarmee veel punten goed wist te maken. De regerende kampioen heeft nog maar acht punten achterstand op de Rus. Derde man Marvin van Daele heeft 35 punten achterstand op Bobryshev dus helemaal uit het oog verliezen moeten we de Belg ook niet. Andere toppers die willen scoren op het zandcircuit van Axel zijn de Nederlandse toppers Ceriel Klein Kromhof, William Saris en Marc de Reuver.

De trainingen op het RES Motocrosscricuit beginnen om 9.00uur en het starthek van het KNMV ONK valt voor de eerste keer omstreeks 12.15uur voor de 85cc-klasse. Daarna volgen de 125cc, MX2 en als de finale de MX1 toppers met diverse grote namen uit het WK. De grote jongens rijden twee manches over maarliefst 30minuten en twee ronden! De nieuwe 125cc-klasse rijdt 25 minuten en twee ronden terwijl de 85cc rijders 20 minuten en twee ronden met elkaar de strijd aan gaan. De entree bedraagt slechts ¤20,00 en daarvoor u de gehele dag kunt genieten van motocross het hoogste niveau!
