Hier trouwens het filmpje met John Simpson van vanmiddag.
Colonel Gaddafi's forces have claimed many civilians have been killed by the coalition forces imposing a no-fly zone over the skies of Libya.
The BBC was taken to what officials claim is the site of a missile strike. But as World Affairs editor John Simpson reports, the evidence did not quite match the official version of events.

Estimates of the death toll vary. According to Wikipedia it may be upwards of 6,000 while the Interim Government places it at over 8000. Yet State Run TV continues to broadcast and be used by the regime to incite violence against innocent Libyan civilians. Gaddafi has banned all media broadcasts inside Libya except for...

SHUT DOWN Gaddafi State TV!
Greetings,
As a global citizen I am deeply concerned about the war crimes and atrocities that have been committed against peaceful citizens of Libya by the Gaddafi regime.
Recent UN Security Council resolutions have been enacted by the international community to protect the Libyan people from violence and attacks by the Gaddafi regime. Since the Gaddafi regime has lost its legitimacy as the representative of the Libyan people, we urge you to pledge your solidarity to the Libyan citizens and discontinue the broadcasting of all of the Gaddafi regimes satellite channels, in particular the Jamahirya satellite channel, that are being broadcast by your satellites.
The illegitimate Gaddafi regime has been using your satellite services to spread its terror propaganda to the Libyans citizens and people around the world. Furthermore, there have been reports from Libya that coded messages have been disseminated to Gaddafis mercenaries and security forces via Al-Jamahirya satellite TV channel. Please stop broadcasting all of the Gaddafi regimes satellite channels immediately and protect the people of Libya.
I thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
[Your name]

quote:Dawn.com - DOHA: Al Jazeeras signal across the Middle East and North Africa was plagued by jamming on Sunday, the Arab satellite broadcaster said, and Lebanon said the electronic interference was coming from Libya.
Al Jazeera, whose coverage of the regional political unrest has been widely watched in the Arab world, first reported jamming on Friday and said its website had been blocked in Libya. We believe that whoever is doing this is operating with sophisticated and large equipment, an Al Jazeera spokesman said in a statement.
In Beirut, Lebanese Telecommunications Minister Charbel Nahhas said the jamming originated from Libyan territory and it was also affecting Lebanese channels. They (Libyans) see what these televisions carry about what is happening in their country and they jam the transmission points so Al Jazeera is affected and we are affected too, Nahhas told Reuters.
There was no immediate response from Libya, where tens of thousands gathered in the city of Benghazi on Sunday for funerals of protesters killed by security forces as Human Rights Watch said overnight violence had doubled the death toll from four days of clashes to 173.
We are investigating the source of the problem, though cooperation would be needed from governments to precisely determine this, the Al Jazeera spokesman said, adding that alternative frequencies were offered to viewers. The jamming was being caused by large installations capable of simultaneously interfering with several frequencies on the Arabsat and Nilesat satellites that carry the Qatar-based news channels signal, it said. The station has exhaustively covered events in Libya, Bahrain and Yemen, contacting protesters and government backers by telephone and often airing footage of events sent via the Internet.
Earlier this month, Egypts Nilesat cut off Al Jazeeras signal for more than a week after authorities there ordered it to stop operations in Egypt during the unrest that ultimately ended President Hosni Mubaraks 30-year rule.
Launched in 1996, Al Jazeera has more than 400 reporters in over 60 countries, according to its website. It says it can reach 220 million households in more than 100 countries.

Goed artikel over de mensen in Tripoli.quote:Boston.com - BANI WALID, LibyaThe family of a Libyan soldier killed in an allied airstrike quickly listed all those they blame in his death -- al-Qaida militants, Al-Jazeera television and "the Crusader conspiracy to divide Libya."
It mimicked nearly word for word the rhetoric that Moammar Gadhafi's state television has been using to explain the revolt that has engulfed the country. In public, where Gadhafi is in charge, people are on message. The regime has been keeping up a drumbeat of propaganda in the Tripoli-centered west of the country under its control. Even so, some still whisper their opposition to the Libyan leader.
