Je maakt tijdens deze master kennis met de wereld van het boek en tekstoverdracht in ruimere zin. Je bestudeert de handschrifttraditie van lang vóór de uitvinding van de boekdrukkunst en je houdt je bezig met de digitale ontwikkelingen in het boekenvak en het ontstaan van elektronische tekstvormen zoals internetpublicatie, het e-boek, en de cd-rom. Je verdiept je ook in de geschiedenis van boekhandel en uitgeverij. Vakken die je kunt volgen, zijn bijvoorbeeld databases & web programming, history & theory of information transmission, the library: knowledge centre of the past, the manuscript book in the West, digital access to cultural heritage en publishing studies. De voertaal is Engels.

You will examine the ways ICT can be used to design and optimize supply chains. You will learn how the latest developments in the field of ICT can be used to design new types of organizations and virtual cooperation through the Internet, but also for the development of new markets and/or products. You will learn how companies can apply ICT to formulate and achieve their goals on the strategic, tactical, and operational level, also known as business-ICT alignment. Information Management studies topics at the intersection of ICT and business administration, a problem area every organization has to deal with in the current knowledge based economy.

This research master’s programme focuses on media as a complex social and cultural phenomenon in its historical and contemporary context. While media are seen as representational objects, cultural practices and cultural forms, the effects of technology and social forces on media contents and functions cannot be ignored. You will study the development of photography and film, radio and television, and the emergence of digital media, alongside “static” media (such as photography, cartoons, film posters, comics, etc.), which can be considered predecessors of the former. Disciplines such as philosophy, history and literary (discourse) analysis are included in order to trace back the roots of Media Studies and help explain the increasing influence of media in our contemporary culture and the connections between media and cultural identity. The curriculum will include course on classical texts in Media Theory, transnational media and questions of identity and the rhetoric of multimedia representations, among others.

In this master’s program you will explore innovative implementation of technology. In other words, you will get to know the latest developments in technology and you will learn how to put them to creative use, creating multidisciplinary projects. Keywords throughout the program are creativity, innovation, technology and media. During the first semester you will follow a number of basic courses on topics and technologies such as sense interference, human computer interfaces, multi media systems, web technology, image, language & text, sound, space & interaction and technology & philosophy. In the second and third semester you will work on a graduation project, resulting in an actual product.

Dit masterprogramma concentreert zich op de technologische ontwikkelingen op het gebied van (audio)visuele media in relatie tot culturele en maatschappelijke veranderingen. Je houdt je onder andere bezig met de impact van nieuwe media op de ontwikkeling van interactieve televisie, multi-channel communicatiestrategieën, digitale leeromgevingen en tentoonstellingspraktijken. Je analyseert de nieuwe media en onderzoekt hoe ze zich verhouden tot de ‘oude’ media. Op theoretisch gebied maak je kennis met internationale theorievorming over populaire cultuur, identiteit, digitale communicatie en cultuurparticipatie. Je doet daarnaast ook praktische vaardigheden op, onder ander op het gebied van webdesign, het ontwerpen van mediastrategieën en wireless toepassingen.

De theorie en praktijk van de fotografie in relatie tot de kunsten en de massamedia staat tijdens deze master centraal. Je bent op wetenschappelijk niveau bezig met studie naar de fotografie. Je volgt onder andere colleges over de geschiedenis van de fotografie, de identificatie van fotochemische processen, presentatietechnieken en -vaardigheden, interactie met publiek, en creativiteitsontwikkeling en museumpraktijk. Bovendien komen ook recente ontwikkelingen zoals nieuwe media en digitale fotografie aan de orde.
