IGNITION RE-IGNITED?
"Pretty fly types The Offspring are finishing off demos for their new album, the follow-up to 00's Conspiracy of One. Already six months down the line, they're certainly keeping fans waiting with baited breath- and Dexter Holland is sure that it's going to be worth the wait. "How can it not be?" he quips. "We've been putting out a record every two years, but it's hard to get any songs written when you are on tour for a year, have six months to write the whole record, and record it in the next six months. We just want to make sure all the songs were really good, and if it takes a little longer, that's OK."
Although the band aren't under any pressure to produce a high selling album, Dexter maintains that they've put themselves under pressure to write the best record possible, "I want to put something out that I feel proud of. I wrote a couple of songs that I didn't think were great, and I wanted to go back and make sure they were all good."
(This is the bit we've all heard before)....
And Dexter, risking a brush with the LAPD to speak to rock sound from the roadside, reveals that the SoCal punks are heading back to their heavier roots. "The people who've heard our demos are saying that it sounds more like Ignition." Which will surprise those who thought the Offspring were a pop band. "It's a shame that people's perceptions are shaped by what your single is," sighs the singer. "We've not necessarily gone in a new direction, we're just going to have an assortment of stuff like we always do."

01.24.03 - Dexter and David Lee Roth?
More guitars today. Noodles played a bunch of guitar yesterday, and now today's my turn again. We worked on a few more songs, they're really starting to sound good - things are going smooth. We had to take a break to watch the Surreal Life on TV. God that's entertainment.
Supposedly David Lee Roth is here at the studio somewhere making a record, but we haven't seen him yet.

01.23.03 - Noodles and "noodley bits"!
I was back in the studio on Tuesday doing my rhythm tracks and a few noodley bits. Everything is sounding really good so far. I can't tell you all how stoked I am with the songs and how they are sounding. We've been messing around with some different amps on this record. So far we've used three different kinds of Marshalls, two kinds of Mesa Boogies, my favorite new amp by Naked Amps, and a few different, small vintage amps. We did all the basic tracks in three days last week and we all played on each one, which is pretty rare. It was awesome! I'm back in on Monday to finish up some rhythm tracks and then we'll probably start adding some of the more intricate parts. Dexter wrote in a bunch of overlapping guitar parts on a lot of these songs. They are super fun to play. It's great to be back at work! Later, Noodles
Ik denk dat er binnenkort wel een videofilmpje op offspring.com komt te staan.
Ik "hoor" net dat het nieuwe Offspring album TOCH! Chinese Democracy gaat heten.
quote van Noodles:
We might possibly be heading towards litigation against A Perfect Circle because they are trying to steal our idea of naming our record "Chinese Democracy." It was our idea to steal the name from Axl Rose first and now there trying to steal the name from us. How fucked up is that?
We are confident that the law, let alone the truth, is on our side, and that A Perfect Circle will have to steal their own damn album title. "Chinese Democracy" was our idea first (after Axl Rose) and we are sure that the law will support that.
Bah.
quote:Lol, wie zei een maand geleden dat het album zo heette?

Neem Noodles niet zo serieus. Hij ouwehoert gewoon graag.
"I was stuck on the lyrics, so we decided to take a short break in Hawaii," says frontman Dexter Holland, calling from the island paradise. The SoCal punk band's vacation did good providing inspiration for "Da Hui," an ode to the Hawaiian badass mobster surfers. Just don't call it surf rock. "It's superfast punk, like Minor Threat," Holland says. Other tracks on the band's seventh album include "The Noose," which Holland calls a "punk-rock 'Bad Moon Rising,'" and "The Worst Hangover Ever," based on "a number of" Holland's personal experiences.
Stond in Rolling Stone.
Nou ja, dat wordt dus wachten tot augustus
