SPECIAAL CONCERT FOLKPROJECT WARDRUNA OP HET INCUBATE FESTIVAL IN TILBURG
De Noorse band Wardruna zal op het Tilburgse festival Incubate een eenmalig concert geven in een speciale omgeving. Het sfeervolle folkproject rond black metal muzikanten Einar "Kvitrafn" Selvik en Gaahl zal op zaterdag 19 september optreden in een amfitheater midden in de bossen van Oisterwijk.

Wardruna kreeg begin 2009 lovende recensies met hun debuutplaat "Gap Var Ginnunga". Bandleider Kvitrafn (Jotunspor, ex-Gorgoroth) gooide zijn metalroots overboord voor een plaat vol duistere ambient folk. Gap Var Ginnunga is een zoektocht naar de geschiedenis van Noorse mythologie en het paganisme, gemaakt met traditionele Noorse instrumenten als de geitenhoorn en de tagelharp. Daarnaast zijn zelfs geluiden van bomen, stenen, water en vuur te horen op de cd.

Shows van Wardruna zijn schaars, maar altijd gedenkwaardig. Zo trad de band al ooit op in een vikingschip en in een bergkapel. Deze omgeving versterkt de mystieke sfeer rond de band.

Het optreden van Wardruna in het natuurtheater van Oisterwijk is het enige Nederlandse optreden van de band. Het concert wordt ingeleid met een lezing over de constante onderstroom van paganisme en esoterie in Europa, van de Germaanse tijd tot op heden.


Incubate is een grootschalig festival voor independent culture. Het festival heeft een breed programma met muziek, beeldende kunst, dans, theater en film. Meer dan 200 culturele voorlopers presenteren zich in een intieme context aan een internationaal publiek. Black metal naast free jazz. Street art naast academische dans.

Incubate vindt plaats van 13 tot en met 20 september 2009 in de gehele Tilburgse binnenstad. Van café tot natuurtheater. Van popzaal tot museum.

In samenwerking met Schatten van Brabant.

Tilburg zit tegenwoordig ook op het nachtnet, van donderdagnacht t/m zaterdagnacht. Dus dat valt dan best mee.
