CAMROSE, Canada (BNO NEWS) -- At least 1 person has been killed after a stage at the Big Valley Jamboree concert in Camrose, Canada collapsed on Saturday evening, officials told BNO News. Scores of others have been reported injured.

Around 6 p.m. local time, a severe weather system moved through the Camrose area, consisting of high winds and heavy rains, Camrose police chief Kambeitz said in a statement.

"The concert at Big Valley Jamboree was delayed and the concert bowl was being cleared when a small portion of the main stage collapsed," Kambeitz said. Although Kambeitz described it as a small collapse, photos from the scene showed a major collapse.

"One individual is confirmed deceased and 15 others injured," he added. The fifteen people were transported to area hospitals where they are currently receiving treatment.

At this time, campers at the festival are being asked to remain where they are. Decisions about the continuation of the Jamboree will be made at a later time.
