Mathias Kaden has unveiled details of his debut album, which is due for release in September.
The record, entitled Studio 10, has been nearly two years in the making. Those familiar with the streamlined tribal minimal techno of his Vakant singles are likely to be very surprised by the album, as Kaden has decided to pack the record with vocals and plenty of organic instrumentation. A Fender Rhodes, Lowry Organ and even a flugelhorn all appear throughout the record, with vocals being supplied by Ian Simmonds, Gjaezon and Tomomi Ukumori.
He definitely hasn't left behind the rhythmic qualities of his previous material, however, with the final track ("1981") taking its name from the year the Roland TR-808 was manufactured. The 808 is still Mathias' favourite piece of studio equipment, so expect it to feature heavily on the record. We spoke to Mathias about the album and his forthcoming live dates.
