I also try to keep this list up to date. So if you know any changes, just post on this thread.

Absoluut Vinyl
Waterloopleinmarkt
In front of the Stopera on the canal. Waterlooplein hosts a rather commercial flea-market, open every day, except sundays. This stand sells 2nd hand vinyl. This one is usually open for business. There are more stands selling records, but not all of them are regulars on the market.

Amstel Antiques
Near Rembrandtplein on the Amstel 110.
This shop sells 2nd hand furniture and antiques. Also a lot of old vinyl; pop, rock, new wave, punk, soul, disco, jazz, etc. It's not possible to listen to the records as there are no turntables.

Back Beat Records
Egelantiersstraat 19
Small shop specializes in latin-jazz, acid-jazz, rock-jazz, vocal-jazz, fusion, swing, bebop, hard-bop & other jazz, soul, gospel-muziek, blues, rhythm & blues, new orleans, cajun & zydeco on LP/CD.

Concerto
Utrechtsestraat 52
Big store (actually several linked together), best known for their used CD & vinyl department, which is the largest in Amsterdam. They carry just about everything, and sometimes you can come up with original Kraftwerk pressings and stuff like that if you work your way through all the shit. Just keep browsing. In the other departments you'll find pop, rock, dance, metal, classical, blues, jazz, pretty much everything actually. Also a good DVD section (movies, some music).

2nd hand cd’s and vinyl. This one is a bit trashy. More a neighbourhood shop, really.

Distortion Records
Westerstraat 244
One of the best and nicest shops in Amsterdam. Very eclectic. Lots of records. Lots of different styles. Mainly vinyl. From guitar and electronics to the lastest releases in minimal techno, d&b, house, electro and dub-step. Usually very up to date, although it can be a bit messy, which means you sometimes really have to dig the crates to find records released more than a month ago.

Eargasm

Small separate shop on the first floor of Most Wanted (Latin Music). 2nd hand vinyl: Soul, Jazz, Dance, New Wave, Pop, etc.

FAME Music
Kalverstraat 2
Huge shop which easily gets on your nerves. Quite a lot of techno, house and dance cd’s, but if you compare it to the many smaller specialized record shops in Amsterdam, you realize there’s really not much need to go here. Their DVD-stock is a bit more interesting (back of the basement, after the huge piles of dvd’s from US tv series).

Fat Beats Amsterdam
Singel 10
Specialised in hip hop, reggae, R&B and breaks. They're in the basement of the shop where Rhythm Import used to be.

Flesch Records

2nd hand vinyl. Classical, Jazz, Soul, Beat... Only open at the end of the week (Thursday to Saturday) and on Mondays.

Gigantic

Small shop with CD's.

Groove Connection Record Store

Lot of goa trance and club techno, almost exclusively on vinyl.

In the basement of a skateboard, sneaker and streetwear shop they sell hardcore & punk records, Also some New Wave, Pop, etc. Both on vinyl as on CD. A lot of 2nd hand stuff.

Jungle, D&B, breakbeat + latest minimal house / techno from Germany. Also mailorder through their webshop.

Outland Records

Dance, techno, house, club music. All vinyl. Their techno shop in the basement has closed. Also selling some dj-equipement and a lot of designer toys. Outland is also a record label.

Rush Hour Records

One of the best and nicest record shops in Amsterdam. House, techno, electro, disco. A place to find stuff not so easily available in other record shops. Also a record label and distribution.

Specialist in soul.

Velvet

New and 2nd cd’s and vinyl. Also a small collection of dvd’s. Usually not too expensive. Also mail order.

Wax Well

Shop specializing in hip hop, funk and seventies disco. All vinyl, most 2nd hand stuff, a lot is imported from the USA. Very central, located on one of the small streets west from Dam square.
