Ik weet niet wie je bedoelt met het Pro-Jorankamp, maar ik kan wel even reageren.

Zelf behoor ik niet tot een kamp, daar ben ik te individueel, onafhankelijk en nadenkend voor.

Ik probeer gewoon te kijken naar de feiten die gepresenteerd zijn, en niet naar de vele roddels die over ons uit worden gebraakt. Zo reageert ook elke serieuze onderzoeker, wetenschapper of officier van justitie.

Natuurlijk kunnen roddels feiten worden als ze onderzocht worden en als vervolgens blijkt dat de roddels (een kern van) waarheid bevatten. Maar op basis van geruchten een mening volgen, zie je mij niet doen.

Veel van de vragen kan ik niet beantwoorden. Waarschijnlijk kan niemand die hier beantwoorden. Alleen de betrokkenen.

Joran's gedrag is erg vreemd en verdachtmakend te noemen, tevens zou je kunnen denken dat hij sociopathische of psychopathische trekjes heeft.

Feit is dat de wetenschap ons leert dat mensen om het minste of geringste al kunnen liegen.
Dat geldt voor zowel verdachten als voor getuigen. Daar heb ik al eerder iets over geschreven (de "betrouwbaarheid" van verklaringen).

Er zijn genoeg redenen om te bedenken, waarom Joran zou liegen tegen iedereen. Bijvoorbeeld omdat hij:
-zijn vader wil beschermen
-zijn vrienden / handlangers wil beschermen (Lorenzo, Pitbull?)
-Natalee wil beschermen tegen een slechte reputatie (b.v. zeggen dat ze geen seks hadden, om de familie van N niet te verontrusten)
-bang is voor andere mensen (zijn vader, eventuele handlangers als Lorenzo en Pitbull, etc.)
-of simpelweg omdat hij zijn alibi, zelfs al was hij onschuldig, niet goed genoeg vind of vond.

Weet je dat het zelfs voor onschuldige mensen nog knap lastig is om een alibi te "verzinnen" (hebben)?
Probeer het maar eens. Stel dat jouw buurman vannacht is vermoord, en jij wordt ondervraagd. Wat zeg je dan tegen de politie en wie kan datgene bevestigen dat jij zegt?

Goed, er zijn dus zoveel redenen te verzinnen waarom Joran of elke andere willekeurige persoon zou kunnen of willen liegen. Daarmee keur ik zijn gedrag niet goed - ik probeer alleen te begrijpen en analyseren, voordat ik ga veroordelen.

Ik ben dus geen Joran-volger, vriend of believer of wat dan ook. Ik keur zijn gedrag niet goed maar niemand van ons weet wat er werkelijk speelt. Wie weet wordt hij wel met de dood bedreigd door (andere?) criminelen op Aruba die iets met de zaak van doen hebben?
We weten het gewoon niet. In tegenstelling tot wat sommige mensen (die ik eerder de "Natalee-volgers" zou willen noemen) ons willen doen geloven.

En nog even mijn mening dan:
Ik denk dat Joran en zijn vader wel degelijk "iets" met de zaak te maken hebben, evenals de Kalpoe's. Maar ik denk eveneens dat dat "iets" schromelijk wordt overschat en dat de echte aandacht zich maar eens moet richten op andere mensen die wellicht niet geheel toevallig zijn "overleden" of "worden vermist" (P en L, dus).

Overigens ben ik niet de enige die daar zo over denkt (het artikeltje van vorige week, waarin VdStraten verklaard te weten wat er met N is gebeurd en wie er mee te maken hadden?). Veel verklaringen of onderzoeken, de een meer geloofwaardig als de ander, wijzen de richting van San Nicolas uit.

Daar vind je wellicht de echte antwoorden op de vraag wat er met Natalee gebeurd is.

Maar nogmaals: eerst facts, figures and proof - en daarna pas een veroordeling s.v.p.

So many unanswered questions Johan,but there was a strategy that first day and that was too make sure her body was never found. If they covered up the case,never revealed the evidence and never answered any questions there would be no case. They were hoping it would go away. Like all the others.

Just imagine if your daughter went missing and the Detective asks how much money do you have? Then tells you to go to the bar and have a drink..But to watch the drink because people put GHB in it. Then you find out he's a narcotics officer with zero experience,who brags about going to schools and telling them about date rape drugs. Greta: Let me talk a little bit about the letter. One of the things that made me almost fall out of my chair when I read the letter is that around June 1st when you arrived after being notified that your daughter was missing is that you went around the island including the police station talking to a detective Dennis Jacobs. When you went in there to see him he made a remark asking you when you’re looking for your daughter if you have any money. Tell me the facts surrounding this discussion.

Dave: Well, when we first arrived on the island we rented a car. We stopped at two different police stations and explained the situation. I explained that I am the father of Natalee Holloway and she is missing. The first comment was would you like to file a complaint? Finally after talking to several officers in those two police departments, they indicated they were not aware of any disappearance and not aware of any complaint. So the directed me to the Noord police station which supervises the area around the Holiday Inn. When I arrived at that police station, the detective knew I was coming and I was frantic as you can imagine a parent being who has their daughter missing. I walked up to the front desk accompanied by my brother and brother in law. I identified myself as the father of Natalee Holloway and Jacobs got up from his chair and grumbled “Well, how much money you got?” We were just stunned and everyone finally came together and we met in the back room He basically told us “Aw, this happens all the time, go down to C&C and have a beer and just wait on her and she’ll show up.” We questioned his tactics and wanted to know if a search was being conducted. He just looked at us and said “Why would you want to do that?” “Think positive, you’re thinking negative.” I said well the first few days are the most critical. He indicated to us you are on the wrong page and you need to go search a drug house or whatever. And then he made the comment that “Look, I need to get with you guys. There have been some reports that some of Jugs friends have been busting up in some of these crack houses.” I was again floored. I thought how do you know about crack houses and who’s up in them, but you are not even aware someone is missing? You know, give me a break.

Greta: Dave, did you get the sense that his remark about money was a very bad joke or that he wanted money from you to pursue the investigation?

Dave: I don’t know, sometimes I wonder now what the real motive is. I met with them again this past week and again one of the references was how money do you have and how long can you continue searching for your daughter. He said “Most of these cases we would have quit investigating long ago.” That’s when I decided we need a change.

Greta: Natalee Holloway’s father recently asked the deputy chief to do him a favor and he was turned down. Dave, what was the favor you asked of Deputy Chief Gerold Dompig?

Dave: We felt that we had a real key witness that I felt if he was interviewed properly that it could break this case. I went to the chief and expressed my concerns with the investigative team for one. I mentioned this witness as well. We had been watching the witness and knew he was very nervous. We felt like the time to strike is now while the iron is hot. I spoke with him that day, and the next day I called him early that morning. I asked him, “Gerold do me a favor. I’ve hung with you this long and can you please, please handle this interrogation?” I think if you handle it right, we could possibly solve this case. As of today, that has yet to be done.

Aangezien het hier vandaag toch dump-hier-ouwe-quotes-dag is, hier een column van Steve Yuhas waarbij hij ingaat op wat 1 jaar Holloway mediacircus nu eigenlijk gebracht heeft en feitelijk gaat dat nu na 3,5 jaar nog steeds op.

One Year of Natalee Holloway & Beth Twitty; Ten Arrests and 9 Straight; 1 Gay: Still Nothing

We are almost at the one year mark that will surely be treated like the equivalent of the Lindberg baby kidnapping when Natalee Holloway went missing on a vacation in Aruba. So far the prosecutors in Aruba have arrested ten people, held Joran van der Sloot for four months without charges and still everyone is either out of custody for lack of evidence or the one person still in jail as of this writing the tenth person who was brought into the circle of Holloway suspects was released from a jail in Amsterdam for lack of evidence. Oh, and because of the fact that the guy is gay and unlikely to be the heterosexual predator he was painted to be on talk shows.

It seems that the pressure from the Twitty family is working against both the prosecution and defense: the prosecution arrests anyone and everyone; the Twitty-Holloway clan applauds and get on the talk shows and then the person is released for lack of evidence. Almost a year of arrest and release so that the killer or killers, kidnapper or kidnappers or Natalee Holloway herself (if she is still alive and made herself disappear) is sitting back watching and laughing at the comical way the case is going.

One full year since Beth Twitty and her husband became household names for their television antics in Aruba and since they convinced a couple of governors and a bunch of poor people not to vacation on an island paradise with a crime rate that any city in Alabama would pay for.

The tragedy in all of this is the cast of characters: the bipolar mother who one day is chastising the people of Aruba for not voting for the right people to the next day praising them in tearful apologies, the chaperones who stayed quiet until one called a radio station that I was appearing on to talk about their duties (it was to take the kids to the hospital; not to baby-sit them – I guess keeping account of them or out of the hands of killers was not on their check list), the “friends” who went to Aruba with Holloway and waves her off in a car with boys she didn’t know for more than a few days the night before she was supposed to leave and a whole litany of “experts” who get together on television to discuss the case every night with women who know just as little about the case named Greta, Nancy or Rita.

It is the cast of characters that make this case and the disappearance of Natalee Holloway so tragic because but for this ensemble there would be far more care and attention paid to the missing girl and far less on the antics of her mother and father (or step-father).

Beth Twitty comes across to the people of Alabama as a sympathetic character, and she is because she can’t find her daughter, but to much of America and the world she is an abrasive and rude woman whose disdain for the people of Aruba overshadows the goodwill that was initially shown to her in the opening days of this soap opera. Her following people around with television cameras in tow in order to confront people that she suspects had something to do with her daughters demise has become fodder for virtually everyone not within 500 miles of Mountain Brook, Alabama.

The rest of the cast plays supporting roles insofar as their television time is much less, but when they do take to the airwaves they just look stupid. Book rights sold and a book coined by ghost writers by Natalee’s father, the chaperones from hell who are silent on how they let a women they were chaperoning disappear the night before they were all scheduled to leave Aruba and a group of so-called friends who talked to the media in the beginning and painted a different picture of Natalee Holloway than her mother and certainly the video and pictures do.

We were all told of Natalee Holloway’s piety – turns out that was not the case as there are picture from her high school days on the internet that show a party girl who went to Aruba to drink the early summer away before she went to school. Even Beth Twitty tried to convince us that Natalee was saintly, but the pictures and video along with the prosecution and police in Aruba put that to rest. Holloway’s friends are something all together different as they did more to harm than help her reputation when they developed their film or became stars in their own right by giving interviews and being in surveillance tape with the missing Alabama woman.

One year since an adult made a decision to take a trip to Aruba and ended up gone. Nobody knows what happened to her and if anyone does they’re not talking. You can listen to Beth Twitty, but everything she says turns out to be the ranting of a mother missing a daughter who is not afraid to defame an entire family in courts without jurisdiction in the matter.

A year since her daughter disappeared and there is very little by way of public scrutiny of the vast amount of money collected to find the missing woman, but we know that Beth Twitty has had a good year of traveling the globe and the United States – part of the time giving (of all things) seminar advice on how to travel. A previous column talked about that, but taking that advice would be like taking marriage advice from the woman who left her children in a broken home.

The facts are in and one year after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway there were ten people caught and released for lack of evidence and Beth Twitty has caused at least one of them to be sued in America offering up her version of the events that led to the disappearance of her daughter. Of course she has no facts on her side and is running on speculation, but the fact that ten people were arrested and released in and of itself is enough to give doubt to any jury who looks at the matter against the main suspect and the object of Twitty’s wrath: the van der Sloot family.

We will have to watch as the three women obsessed with the Holloway-Twitty missing person story take the one year anniversary to do something special to reflect on their banner year with ratings, gubernatorial boycotts and a talking head bonanza of experts on Aruban justice. Nancy, Greta and Rita may just shed a few tears as they talk about a missing woman in a world filled with missing people.

The sad thing is that Holloway is probably dead, she is not coming back, and there are other missing people whose mothers would like nothing more than for the three women with audiences who love a mystery to cover their daughter, but they just don’t have the appeal that the Holloway case has so they will go without the help of the mainstream media. The three cable shows decided that Natalee Holloway was important, more important, than any other missing person and they run with it every chance they get with breaking news alerts and there is no doubt in my mind that the graphics departments at the three networks are working frantically for a nice graphic with tragic music to accompany the one year anniversary of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance.

If only other people who disappeared, minors and children first and foremost, were given the same coverage and access to the media. Alas, it is obvious that you have to have an overbearing and dishonest mother and dysfunctional family to get that kind of coverage and the Holloway case just proved that people like Beth Twitty are nice for numbers, but she still doesn’t have her kid back and as tragic as that is you have to wonder if the book on this case cannot be closed because her behavior made the people in Aruba less likely to help and more likely to say to hell with it.

van stukken van peter r de vries zou ik me dat nog kunnen indenken, maar de drie gesprekken van joran met zijn vader van greta gaat dat niet op die waren juist voor openbaring gemaakt.
