Szigettrein

In 2009 rijdt een speciale Szigettrein van Amsterdam naar Boedapest. De prijs voor een retourtje is tot 1 mei 158 euro, afhankelijk van het aantal aanmeldingen kan de prijs na 1 mei omhoog gaan.

Vertrekdatum heenreis 9 augustus, terugreis 17 augustus.


De trein start in Amsterdam en zal ook in Utrecht en Arnhem stoppen. Aangezien de trein tussen Arnhem en Boedapest nergens zal stoppen zal de rit slechts 15 a 16 uur duren (onder voorbehoud).

Naast gewone wagons zal er ook een ' discowagon' aan de trein worden gekoppeld. We proberen een Nederlandse of Belgische band en/of dj's die op Sziget zullen optreden ook in de trein te laten spelen. Marujah to play at Sziget 2009

Indie-rock-jam formation Marujah will perform at Sziget 2009. As scheduled on their Myspace, Marujah will perform on the 11th of August. This also indicates that there indeed will be performances before the 12th of August.

Besides the Sziget festival, the guys from Tennessee will also be visiting Roskilde (Denmark), Oxygen (Ireland) and Pukkelpop (Belgium) festival.

First Names: World Music Stage

According tot the myspace of Ballkan World Music Management; Roy Paci (Italy), Frank London (U.S.A.) & Boban Markovic +Orchestra (from Serbia) will make an appearance on this years Sziget Festival!
On the 16th of august (2009), they wil enjoy us on (most likely) the World Music Stage with their Balkan Beat sounds. So start buying those camping tickets, book your hostels or (for al you neaty people who like to shower) book a hotel. Sziget Festival 2009 is starting now!

According to some of our sources (thanks Bill) the next two weeks will bring us more bands to come. (Even some big international names will be announced!)

19 Dirty Queens

19 Dirty Queens will perform on the 13th of august at Sziget Festival 2009. These guys from the UK are reletivaly new to us but on their myspace they discribe themselves as ‘the new kings of rock’n'roll’.

Not much footage on youtube and all. The video’s around suggest they play a lot of covers. If anyone has more info in this band please ->contact us<-

Anyway, next month they will tour through Japan but the Óbudai Island is already on their schedule for august 2009!

Rumours: Tour schedules

After some lame false rumours about Basement Jaxx and other 2005 artists we are now facing some serieus bands who announced their world ór European tour for 2009!

We got an email from derrick from Finland (we get traffic from Finland?) about some possible rumours and some dude named Anthony posted a comment with more possible guesses.

First of all:

Metallica!: The last show listed on their European tour is on the 30th of July, after they can possible extend their tour or go back to the States. With all the festivals this summer it is hard to believe they would skip August!

Depeche Mode: A lot of great shows in the next half year! Last show listed is on July 12th. Although it is possible that they will attend some more festivals in August the chance of them showing up at Sziget Festival 2009 is slim (at least, we think so). They will visit Budapest on June 23rd for a show in the Puskas Ferenc Stadium however.

Pearl Jam: Hasn’t gotten their tour page up yet (under construction) but we’ll have to wait and see. The will be touring the U.S. untin at least the end of June. All options are open here.

Arctic Monkeys: According to Anthony; They announce visiting the Highfield Festival, Erfurt (Germany) at 21st August and Öya Festival, Oslo (Norway) at 13th August 2009. As we see these dates confirmed there are further no indications that they will be visiting the Sziget festival

Coldplay: Their (confirmed) August tour starts on the 16th (Herning, Denmark). However the tour list shows a gap between March 19 (Auckland, New Zealand) and August 16. It is quit possible they will be touring some (eastern-) European festivals in between these dates

Oasis: With a brand new album in October and a tour trough Europe and the U.K. Oasis might be ready for the Eastern-European festivals this summer. No rumours here, just a hunch.
