Las net op BM.com nog een leuk interview met Roger
Stukje er van:
quote:
JW: I think that once you hear the record and see you live, which people are gonna get a chance to do in October in the UK, that kind of answers all the questions, but have you got any sort of negative criticism like, well you shouldn’t have carried… you know, there shouldn’t be a Queen without Freddie?
RT: I think there was a bit of feeling, you know, “Who is this”, you know, “who’sse this bloke think he is, trying to be Freddie Mercury?” Well, you know he’s not trying to be Freddie Mercury, in short, and obviously, you know, it’s either – it’s either do what you’ve done, always done, or give up, and I’m not the type to give up really. (laughing) It’s been an incredible journey. It’s been a great way to make a living.
JW: Yeah. I mean, Brian’s been doing all sorts of things. He’s been, you know…
RT: Yeah. But Brian’s, well really, he’s a true polymath these days. He’s finished his PhD in Astronomy on Zodiacal Dust, and, you know, he does quite a lot of other things. He’s very involved in a lot of causes, and has a very active web site, which he sort of expands his views on everything. (chuckles)
JW: And what have you been doing – living the life of the country squire or what?
RT: No, I’ve been sailing.
(Both laugh)
JW: Tell us about that. You’ve got your own boat?
RT: I do actually, yeah. It’s my sort of escape. It’s great. I have basically all my holidays on it.
JW: Yeah. Well, come on, I want to know…
RT: Well we’ve been around…. (indistinct)
JW: How long is it? How big is it?
RT: How long is it? That’s a bit personal isn’t it. (Both laugh) (RT fudges)… it’s quite, quite long.
JW: It’s quite big.
RT: Quite big. It’s a sailing boat and….
JW: Yeah. It’s not one of these stonking great cruisers?
RT: No, no, no.
JW: It’s got a sail?
RT: No, it’s got two - two masts actually, and we’ve been through the Panama, into the Pacific, and it’s been across the Atlantic a lot of times – done most of the Mediterranean and really seen a lot of the world in it.
JW: So you’ve got a Captain who looks after everything?
RT: Yeah. Exactly. Yeah, it’s a sort of posh caravan really.
JW: (laughs) But going across the Atlantic – how was that? Did you get any bad weather?
RT: I didn’t actually go. (chuckle)
JW: Oh you didn’t go. You didn’t actually do that bit!
RT: I flew out.
JW: No, the Mediterranean’ll do for me.
RT: (laughing) You gotta get two and a half clear weeks, you know, in which to do nothing but that. Never seem to get that, really.
