A: Dat is een label opgericht door Mike Patton & greg wreckman en is thuis voor de meest uiteenlopende bands van de post-hardcore van Isis tot de dub van dub trio tot rauwe hip-hop van dälek en zelf pop van immani coppola en northern state hebben hier albums gereleased. Het label gaat contracten aan per cd en is dus ideaal voor one-off projecten.

Q: Wat is dat Ipecac Recordings
A: Dat is een label opgericht door Mike Patton & greg wreckman en is thuis voor de meest uiteenlopende bands van de post-hardcore van Isis tot de dub van dub trio tot rauwe hip-hop van dälek en zelf pop van immani coppola en northern state hebben hier albums gereleased. Het label gaat contracten aan per cd en is dus ideaal voor one-off projecten.

Ik heb kaartjes voor mike patton & zu, Ben wederom benieuwd wat dat wordt. Ik vond fennesz en patton ook wel ok, alleen dat zijn wel dingen die van wat experimenteler aard zijn dan wat de man anders doet. Zu maakt ook bijna free jazz dus dat lijkt me dan wel weer een uitstekende combi

WEl een leuke cd alleen vind ik het apart dat ze in het blad northern state reviewen het staat dan wel op ipecac maar past niet in het blad naar mijn mening (en komt ook een beetje misplaatst over op die monopoly of briliance sampler)

Afgelopen zaterdag naar Mike & Fennesz geweest het was erg vaag maar absoluut de moeite waard.
Het is maar goed dat ik vooraf niet even geluisterd heb naar wat ik zou kunnen verwachten, anders was ik waarschijnlijk niet gegaan en ik had dit achteraf toch niet willen missen.

Het was erg tof! mike patton & zu. De avond begon met een onaangekondigd (tenminste ik heb het nergens gezien) voorprogramma 'Volt' dat was een erg energieke duitse band die een beetje te omschrijven is als een soort kruising tussen dillenger escape plan en dub trio met zang die nijgt naar noise/funeraldoom zang. Ik was zeker onder de indruk van deze 4 duitsers.
Mike patton en zu ging op eenzelfde voet verder maar voerde de intensiteit op, stuiterende drums, agressief snelle bas partijen overladen met bariton sax (ergens zwevend tussen zorniaans en braxtoniaans) en mike patton verzorgde de 'beats' met flarden zang piepen knorrend hijgend en manipulerend.
Al met al een super evening with .. patton & zu

Opening band was rather boring 'avant garde' and predictable mathcore from East Germany, don't know the name. Then we had to wait very long because apparently Patton lost it and needed to eat something. Why he "lost it" remains unclear, but it seemed to have to do with weed or maybe alcohol, something I didn't expect of him anyway. Then finally it started: well-played, sound leaving much to be desired but better than the opening act. Sadly the two didn't gel at all. Something that might've been better with Patton going through the motions. Only for the encore something finally happened (although it was a bit too long). but I enjoyed Adriano Celentano's 24000 Baci - which Patton cued from his sampler/laptop/whatever-gadget - the best of the entire show. The waiting, the so-so sound, the predictability, not a very good show, following a couple of mediocre records, Patton isn't getting better lately (even though he's on two positions in my 2007 yearlist via excellent Eyvind Kang and John Zorn albums).

Die soundtrack voor a perfect place is echt super tof. Voor mensen die mike weer eens gewoon willen horen zingen raad ik de track "a perfect twist (vocal)" aan.

Mja, is ATP niet standaard tamelijk prijzig? Lijkt me tof om ooit eens heen te gaan, maar ik denk dat ik er dan een korte vakantie omheen zou boeken. De namen zijn in ieder geval nu al tof.
