Ja, 3e album werd bij een major uitgebracht en die viel in alle opzichten tegen. Nadeel van groot willen worden. 1e album blijft het beste en dan vooral het nummer Deceptacon natuurlijk. Dát had nou wel een hit kunnen worden als het genoeg gedraaid zou worden...

(The) Plastics
The Plastics were a Japanese New Wave band that have been compared to the B-52s or Devo. They released 4 albums including the live effort, All Across The USA 80. They were also a fixture in the fertile underground scene in New York City during the early 80s and appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Downtown '81.
The group has broken up but members have gone on to work with members of other seminal Japanese groups like the Yelow Magic Orchestra, Buffalo Daughter, Judy and Mary and several others.

Though they were short lived, their music was a major influence on Japanese pop music and have been covered by many bands, most notably Polysics, and Pizzicato Five (covering the song "Good" from Origato Plastico). The bands Talking Heads, B-52s, Devo were big fans of Plastics, and may have helped get their albums released in the US. Their mainstream exposure began when Toshio Nakanishi designed a tour program book for Talking Heads and slipped David Byrne a tape of Plastics demos. Byrne promptly sent it to the B-52s' manager who offered to represent them internationally.

Angel'in Heavy Syrup

One of the more unique and melodic bands to arise from Japan's famous noise-rock scene, Angel'in Heavy Syrup (named after canned fruit) specializes in a drawn-out, retro psychedelic style. The all-female quartet formed in Osaka in 1990, produced by Jojo Hiroshige, a heavyweight amongst Japan's noise rockers. Despite "guitar terrorism" being music critics' favorite phrase to describe him, Angel'in Heavy Syrup's sound shares very little in common with that of their producer's.
The band draws heavily on progressive and psychedelic rock while working in a number of jazz influences as well. The jazz and psychedlic roots especially point to influences by Soft Machine and Gong. Most Angel'in Heavy Syrup songs are epic and meandering, often layering sheets of guitar noise over entire songs - perhaps the heavy syrup coating the angelic melody. The band's vocal sections give way to stretched-out instrumentals with plenty of complicated lines from both guitarists and somtimes accented with liberal helpings of improvization. Nakao and Toda often act as the other's complement; while one forges ahead with the melody, the other plays contrasting parts ranging from improv to noise freakouts. Vocal sections feature bassist Itakura, whose soft, airy tones recall British female-fronted dream pop and shoegaze bands from the 1980s and 90s. For listeners more familiar with such groups, a comparison to Lush is not far off the mark. Takahara completes the quartet on both drums and flute, and while her presence on percussion is not commanding, her polyrhythmic flourishes set her style apart while tacking on an extra touch of jazz.

Volgens mij zijn ze al eerder genoemd, maar ik kreeg gister de cd in huis van Soak the Sin. Niet alle nummers even sterk, maar toch een goed album. Het zijn trouwens 4 zweedse dames Doen wat denken aan Breeders maar sommige nummers zijn wat zoetsappig... of ik kan ook zeggen dat het doet denken aan The Like maar over het algemeen wat steviger
Mademoiselle K is een franse band die doet denken aan een kruising tussen Anouk en the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (en dan vooral de laatste). Fijn album hebben die ook, onlangs heruitegbracht mer bonus dvd. Je betaalt er dan wel wat voor, maar dan heb je ook wat.
