Op vrijdag 7 juli 2006 is Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett overleden aan gevolgen van zijn langdurige diabetes, Syd was mede-oprichter van Pink Floyd en de creatieve geest achter hun eerste twee albums, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn en A Saucerful of Secrets. Syd heeft na zijn vertrek ook altijd nog een grote invloed gehad op Pink Floyd, het album Wish You Were Here is een ode aan hem, tijdens het opnemen van het nummer Shine on you crazy diamond is Syd zelfs even in de studio geweest. Syd is gestorven op 60 jarige leeftijd.quote:Pink Floyd is the premier space rock band. Het zal inderdaad een push geven voor verkoop van cd's en dergelijke van floyd en het solowerk van Syd Barrett.
Misschien dat Floyd weer de opbrengst schenkt aan een goed doel wat ook gebeurde na Live8.

Ah, aan het Italiaanse gewauwel te horen, waarin regelmatig de woorden Rogera Wóters en Pienke Floyde vallen, zal het zo wel gaan beginnen.
Er zijn Europese landen waar een groter bevolkingsdeel moeite heeft de eindjes aan elkaar te knopen, maar waar supermarktgevechten om rollen zacht Page-toiletpapier toch uitblijven.
