Radioshowsquote:When Danjo (Danjo Raijer, 1979) and Styles (Robbert Vroegindeweij, 1980) meet each other at a party in 1998, they discover that one and one add up to more than two. Reinforcing each other both musically and production wise, they fuse into a style that is unique in any way you slice it. No conventional sounds, no cheesy tunes and never predictable: the trance sound of Danjo & Styles is magical, sexy and chockfull with emotion – blending into the energetic sound that has become the Danjo & Styles’ trademark.
Danjo & Styles explore new areas from moment one and forge their talents to a style in trance that is deep and accessible at the same time. Nowadays this friendship and musical fusion has resulted to one of the most powerful duos in Dutch trance and far beyond. The Danjo & Styles productions surface in a plethora of record bags of big-time deejays all over the globe, be it Tiësto, Paul van Dyk or Judge Jules. Rightly so, because any Danjo & Styles production is widely regarded as an instant floor filler, always touching on that emotional note, with an inescapable groove.
Observing these two working a sweat behind the decks is a sight to behold. This is no ordinary duo; Danjo & Styles share a sixth sense for each others style and moment in time, so again sweeping to new heights and - indeed, pleasure. They combine an instinctual feel for ambiance with uplifting deejay skills, resulting in that most magical of dance moments: a crowd fully surrendering to the deejays. It may come as no surprise that Danjo & Styles are becoming household names in the clubs worldwide. They have seen more airports than grocers of late. Having performed at venues from Malaysia to Spain and from the UK to Switzerland, the Dutchmen have already built a wide fan base all over the globe.
Be it a remix or an own production, Danjo & Styles accept nothing but top quality music leaving their studio. Way back in the year 2000, their drive for perfection is quickly noticed by record company BPM Dance, who contracts the duo. This is where Danjo & Styles work together with some of the bigger names in the Dutch dance scene, the likes of Randy Katana, Signum and Mark Norman – whom they also consider good friends. It is in those days that the extremely successful dance tracks ‘Witness’ and ‘Anticipating’ are released, paving the way for the duo the world over, since the tracks gain airplay from Singapore to Rio de Janeiro. It is all too evident: here’s a duo that have truly managed to create a unique style.
It’s all up from there. In 2003 they are contracted by Armin van Buuren’s ’Armada’ label. The mega hit Aragon is soon released and after a special introduction at the Trance Energy main stage it quickly dominates the dance charts globally. Later on in 2003, the duo gears up another notch by initiating a brand-new project under the name of ‘Primer’. This producing sidetrack gains momentum fast with a series of high quality trance productions, all with that telltale hard edged ‘bite’ and sexy sound. In early 2004, the largest Dutch dance label ID&T fathers ‘Duende‘, a production-spectacular, now widely acknowledged as a true classic.
Fine producers may not always be great remixers, but Danjo & Styles are exceptions to that rule. The list of artists, opting for a Danjo & Styles ‘makeover’, is huge and includes the worlds greatest deejays such as fellow countryman Tiësto (a special remix of the worldwide hit ‘Adagio for Strings’), Jones & Stephenson (the classic ‘The First Rebirth’), Fire & Ice, Chakra (‘Love Shines Through’), Signum, Ernesto & Bastian, Arizona vs. Passiva, PG2 - and the list is far from complete. Danjo & Styles’ phone is ringing off the hook for remix requests, as their unique blend of sexy grooves, energetic beats and highly emotional infusions are loved throughout.
And when is all said and done, these two workaholics manage to spare some time to produce their own radio show, a monthly two hour live-mix under the flag of ‘Playground’. It can be enjoyed worldwide through various stations.
It can safely be said that the future of trance is in good hands with Danjo & Styles. They belong to the very forefront of a style that is appreciated worldwide. They create a sound truly their own, and combine it with mixing skills that are second to none and a crowd interaction, that is truly phenomenal. Don’t miss any opportunity to experience Danjo & Styles behind the decks!
