What with Buffy finishing and Angel being cancelled in it’s fifth season, the fans are hungry for more stories from the Buffy-verse. Here are my suggestions to what they could be.
Faith - Probably the most likely out of all the possibilities. Eliza Dushku was actually in negotiations for this when Fox came at her with "a big solid offer" and she chose to appear in "Tru Calling" on their network. The series isn’t doing too well in the ratings and is regarded by the critics as a bad show, but executives at Fox "love the show" so it may get a second season. If however it does not, Eliza said she "would love to work with Joss again" specifically stating the holy words "spin-off". So what should the premise be. It was originally going to be Faith travels around on a motorcycle, aided by Ghost Spike. Some sort of arc would have been formed some when and it would have been helmed by Tim Minear with Joss over-seeing the project. Now though, Tim Minear has gone onto "Wonderfalls" and ’Ghost Spike’ has moved over to Angel and has become corpreal again. So my suggestion, is for Doug Petrie - over on "Tru Calling" should helm the series. He has wrtten for Faith the most out of all the writers and aside from Joss and Marti, he was my favourite. Instead of Spike, Andrew should couple Faith. He would be the perfect antidote to Faith and her troubles. I find Wood a totally one-sided character and so I would recommend that he was not in the series. The third regular should probably be a new character (magical abilities?). This premise would allow Faith to literally go anywhere, even to Angel Investigations, thereby seeing all our favourite characters again. Both Xander and Willow (due to their emotional background with her) and Buffy could make an appearance (duh! Slayer!) and because of her sister, so could Dawn
Tales of the Slayer - I’m really suprised that Joss hasn’t thought about this one (or maybe he has, he just hasn’t spoken publicly about it) This premise does not have the problem of a regular cast, and it has the possibility of a Faith, Kendra, Buffy, Kennedy, Vi etc. episode. It has to have no continuity, which is great, because it can be shown in any order. The negative effects are like the books, we don’t get to know the Slayer that well, but if this was a multi -season thing, the Slayers that worked particuarly well could be revisisted. Also, we could have Andrew introduce each episode and Slayer in a very "Tales from the Crypt" (I think it that show) way. It would be great
Seven Crows - I’m probably going to give this it’s own page in a link, because this will probably take up a whole page of ideas, because I’ve really thought about this in detail. It’s based on the John Vornholt novel of the same name and pitches Buffy, Angel, Riley and Sam in the Arizona Desert, facing off against two powerful vampires. The story is brilliant, and I’ll keep you posted when the page is made
Spike and Dru - The most popular villians in the Buffy-verse getting their own series! Sounds good to me! This could be set any time, and in any county, the possibilities for this series are endless. Appearances from Angelus/Angel, Darla, Anyanka, Halfrek and more are all possible. My idea for an arc would be Spike and Dru, pursued by a Slayer and her Watcher. Each season could Spike and Dru on a different quest e.g. avenge Dru’s latest project’s death, search for a mystical item. The regulars could be Spike, Dru, Slayer and Watcher. I really think this series could work
Ripper - Anthony Stewart Head is interested, the BBC is interested, Joss is interested. So why is this series with so much potential not happening? Joss may not trust U.S. executives but the Beeb aren’t cut- throat, like the money - making, evil gits that are The WB, and would not cut him off. They give things a chance. This will probably be set in Bath, ASH home town and centre around ghosts etc.
