Hier kun je praten over van alles en nog wat. Eigenlijk alles wat niet in een van de andere rubrieken thuishoort.
Was een maand in de VS aan het rondreizen, bij zebrapaden zag je onderstaande bord vaak. Pas in de 4e week snapte ik het bord pas

Waar ik zelf achterkwam in de US, en zeker cool vind, is dat de Highway nummer op de snelweg worden aangegeven in de vorm van de staat (enkele staten uitgezonderd natuurlijk)...

Ben trouwens niet zo'n fan van het zo afkorten van woorden die niet aan de extreme kant qua lengte zitten. Doe het volledig of laat het weg. Afkorten werkt vaak alleen maar verwarrend in dit soort non verbale communicatie.

Dat het bekende command symbool op Apple's toetsenborden en in z'n OS een teken is dat men overgenomen heeft van Zweedse campingen.
The command key was created to add more functionality to a standard keyboard: when pressing down command along with another key, the user could access shortcuts to commonly used actions like 'Print' or 'Undo.' Before the "Gorgon loop" decorated the command key, Apple had used a company favorite... an apple. Though the icon made sense for a key unique to Apple, Steve Jobs was not a fan of overusing the company's logo.

Ik kom er net achter dat in het liedje 'tien kleine visjes' de moedervis gelijk krijgt. Elke keer gaat (en blijft) een van de kleine visjes weg.

It's difficult to come up with a small icon that means "command", and we didn't think of anything right away. Our bitmap artist Susan Kare had a comprehensive international symbol dictionary and she leafed through it, looking for an appropriate symbol that was distinctive, attractive and had at least something to do with the concept of a menu command.
Finally she came across a floral symbol that was used in Sweden to indicate an interesting feature or attraction in a campground. She rendered a 16 x 16 bitmap of the little symbol and showed it to the rest of the team, and everybody liked it. Twenty years later, even in OS X, the Macintosh still has a little bit of a Swedish campground in it.

Waar dat van die camping (campground) vandaan komt snap ik niet. In het Zweeds wordt het gebruikt als verkeersbord voor een niet nader aangeduide bezienswaardigheid:quote:

Campings staan doorgaans niet bekend om hun bezienswaardigheden. Wel zie je in Zweden vaak een soort picknickplaats bij een bezienswaardigheid die je campground zou kunnen noemen.
Het wordt in Scandinavië Sankthanskors (Sint Johanneskruis) genoemd
