Reuters attributed the drop to the fact that Manitowoc is a “major consumer of steel.” As of 10:20 a.m. Friday, the stock had lost an additional 6 percent, trading at $26.21.

Icahn was required to make the disclosure because of the large volume of his sale. The filing reveals that he began systematically selling the stock on February 12, when he was able to sell the stock for $32 to $34.

Zoals mensen met een geestelijke stoornis wel vaker doen verwoordt hij het wat zwart-wit, maar geen eigen staalindustrie hebben is toch vervelend voor landen. Vergis je niet in hoeveel zaken staal voorkomt.

Vergelijk het wat met olie. Geen eigen olievelden (ijzererts) hebben is nog niet zo'n ramp. Geen eigen raffinaderij (hoogoven) hebben is toch vrij matig. Kun je al die meuk los gaan importeren, en je hebt het keihard nodig voor je infrastructuur.


Dat geleuter met die handelsbarrière slaat nergens op verder. Hopelijk heeft hij er vooral zelf last van en blijft de beschaafde wereld rustig.

Hij werd door 5 vrouwen beschuldigd van sexual harrassment. Een onderzoek gaf aan dat die beschuldigingen geloofwaardig waren. Hij heeft eerst zijn verontschuldigingen aangeboden en switchte daarna van standpunt om te ontkennen of om te zeggen dat hij het niet meer weet, omdat hij zoveel gezopen had dat hij geen geheugen meer had van de avond in kwestie.

Nu is hij met 52 tegen 9 uit het Huis gestemd. 36 democrats + 16 republikeinen stemden hier voor, 9 republikeinen tegen, 4 republikeinen waren niet aanwezig.

Wel een vreemde zaak als zijn vervanger een republikein gaat zijn, want het kan wel een fuck you naar de democrats zijn, maar hij zit er als vertegenwoordiger van zijn district en die hebben gestemd voor een democrat. Niet dat het verder voor de meerderheid in het Huis uitmaakt.

Tegelijkertijd start hij wel een handelsoorlog met de EU, een bondgenoot van de VS. En smijt hij bovendien ook nog eens met dreigende woorden.

En wie profiteert hiervan? Iedereen behalve de VS en de EU.

According to the White House, a “great” and “beautiful” wall is to rise over Otay Mesa in eastern San Diego, Calif., modeled after one of the eight enormous prototypes on display there that are visible for miles around. I thought I could go see and lay hands on the slabs.

So on a recent visit to San Diego, I went to the Otay Mesa border crossing and drove around a maze of parched industrial alleys and postapocalyptic “Mad Max” landscapes trying to find these monuments to President Trump’s vision of the future.

Frustrated by their mirage-like distance, I finally parked at the end of a road from which I could see the original border fence stretching far into the distance, with houses built up against it on the Mexican side and nothing but desert on the American side.

After some quick research, I realized you cannot visit the proposed wall sections without Border Patrol approval. The prototypes are inside a construction site surrounded by razor wire. Turns out, the government is worried about protesters. In other words, taxpayer money is being used to guard the prototypes not against Mexicans, but against…taxpayers.
