edit some additional digging. According to this article, as of December 2016 a Brazilian transformer company purchased 51% of Whitefish Energy "shifting the company's focus toward production of large-scale transformers for the U.S. market." Weird how less than a year later they'd be given a $300 million contract for utility repair work, i.e. nothing to do with transformer manufacturing. Another nice tidbit, then house rep, now secretary of the interior, Ryan Zinke personally intervened with the city manager of the city near where the potential transformer factory would be located to try to make the deal go smoothly. Nope, nothing weird about a politician going out of his way to grease the wheels of a deal for a brand new company from his hometown.
edit According to this reporting, plans for the transformer plant fell through. So the biggest project undertook by a new company never got off the ground. This bodes well. (this source lists Whitefish Energy's annual revenue as $1 million)

quote:Dozens of business and industry leaders descended on Capitol Hill on Tuesday in a coordinated push to preserve the North American Free Trade Agreement, a pact that has appeared increasingly at risk as the Trump administration presses Canada and Mexico for significant concessions.
More than 125 participants from the automotive, retail, agriculture and other industries plan to meet with all 100 Senate offices on Tuesday to ratchet up pressure on lawmakers — many of whose constituents work for companies dependent on Nafta — to keep the deal intact, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said.
The demise of the 1994 trade pact has become a growing threat in the wake of dramatic changes that the United States says it wants and that American businesses and foreign negotiators say are nonstarters.
As recently as two weeks ago, the president threatened to pull out of Nafta unless negotiators succeed in significantly rewriting the agreement, which governs commerce across the three countries. It’s an outcome the administration says might be necessary, but one that business leaders contend could devastate their profits and harm America’s ability to compete in a global market.SPOILEROm spoilers te kunnen lezen moet je zijn ingelogd. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that the panel has “been looking into this for a while now” but elected to formally start the inquiry in light of new evidence, reported in the Hill, that the FBI had been investigating Russian efforts to influence the American nuclear industry through various corrupt schemes.
Nunes said the first goal of the investigation, for which the Intelligence Committee is partnering with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is determining “was there actually an open FBI investigation or not.”
Oversight committee member Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) said Tuesday that members had identified a “witness who was a confidential informant who wants to talk about his role in this” but were trying to first get the witness released from a nondisclosure agreement with the Justice Department.SPOILEROm spoilers te kunnen lezen moet je zijn ingelogd. quote:House GOP chairmen announce probe of Obama’s Justice Dept
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican chairmen of two House committees announced Tuesday they’re opening an investigation into actions the Obama administration Justice Department took during last year’s presidential election.
The chairmen said in a statement Tuesday they have several questions, including why then-FBI Director James Comey decided to publicly announce the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s handling of classified information but not to publicly announce the investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign associates.
Trump fired Comey in May. At first, the White House cited a harsh memo about Comey’s performance from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as the justification — though Trump later said he would have fired Comey regardless of what the Justice Department recommended.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, chairman of the Oversight Committee, announced the probe. They described it as necessary to “better understand the reasoning behind how certain conclusions were drawn.”SPOILEROm spoilers te kunnen lezen moet je zijn ingelogd. The House intelligence and oversight committees will investigate the circumstances surrounding a 2010 Obama administration deal that allowed a Kremlin-backed company to gain control of a huge chunk of America’s uranium supply.
Rep. Devin Nunes, California Republican and chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, announced the probe Tuesday and said lawmakers hope to get to the bottom of whether U.S. authorities were investigating Russia’s atomic energy giant Rosatom at the time the U.S. government signed off on the deal.
“One of the things we are concerned about is whether or not there was an FBI investigation, was there a DOJ investigation and if so, why was Congress not informed of this matter?” Mr. Nunes said.SPOILEROm spoilers te kunnen lezen moet je zijn ingelogd. A majority of GOP voters say Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) should resign as majority leader, according to a new poll.
The survey from Harvard-Harris Poll also found that the Republican Party’s approval rating has hit a new low, amid widespread intraparty dissatisfaction with congressional leadership.
The poll found that 56 percent of Republicans say McConnell should resign as majority leader. McConnell has the worst approval rating of any politician in the survey, at 16 percent favorable and 52 unfavorable.
The frustration among Republican voters with McConnell and what they view as the Senate’s inability to deliver on long-standing GOP campaign promises has also dragged the Republican Party’s approval rating to new lows.SPOILEROm spoilers te kunnen lezen moet je zijn ingelogd. With incumbent U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake struggling in the polls, Republican challenger Kelli Ward has emerged as a real contender for Arizona's 2018 GOP Senate nomination.
Ward's standing with the right has been bolstered by Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump's former political strategist who helped energize her supporters Tuesday at a fundraiser and rally at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas.
Ward, a former state senator from Lake Havasu City, lost her 2016 primary bid against incumbent U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and many Republicans still consider her a weak candidate. If she manages to knock off Flake, who has been feuding with Trump, some political observers say she could help deliver the Senate seat to the Democrats in the general election.
Because of that possible scenario, Ward is drawing comparisons to past conservative "tea party" challengers such as Sharron Angle of Nevada, Christine O'Donnell of Delaware, Todd Akin of Missouri and Richard Mourdock of Indiana, who won Senate primaries but lost seats that more moderate Republicans might have been able to win.SPOILEROm spoilers te kunnen lezen moet je zijn ingelogd.

Crooked Hillary
