The Harmful Effects of Early Sexual Activity and Multiple Sexual Partners Among Women

INTRODUCTION
This report examines the linkages between early initiation of sexual activity, number of non-marital sex partners, and human well-being. In general, the earlier a woman begins sexual activity, the greater the number of non-marital sex partners she is likely to have over the course of her life.

Early initiation of sexual activity and higher numbers of non-marital sex partners are linked in
turn to a wide variety of negative life outcomes, including increased rates of infection with sexu-
ally transmitted diseases, increased rates of out-of-wedlock pregnancy and birth, increased single parenthood, decreased marital stability, increased maternal and child poverty, increased abortion, increased depression, and decreased happiness.
The study is based on the National Survey of Family Growth, a survey fielded in 1995 to a nationally representative sample of roughly 10,000 women betweenthe ages of 15 and 44, spon-sored and funded by the Centers for Disease Control of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Because men are not included in the NSFG, they are not included anywhere in this report.Initiation of Sexual Activityand Number of Sex Partners

The earlier a woman begins sexual activity, the more sexual partnersshe is likely to have during her lifetime. Girls who begin voluntary sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 will have, on average, more than 13 voluntary non-marital sex partners during their lives. Bycontrast, women who begin sex-ual activity in their early 20s will have, on average, 2.7 sexual partners during their lives.Women who begin sexual activity at early ages also have far
higher turnover rates among sexual partners. (The sex partner turnoverrate may be defined as the numberof sex partners per year of sexual activity.)

Women who become sexually active at ages 13-14 have a sex partner turnover rate that is four times higher than the rate found among those who initiate sex activity in their early 20s.
Negative Consequences of Early Sexual Activity
Beginning sexual activity at an early age is likely to have permanent negative consequences on the lives of young women. These enduring negative effects
can be physical, psychological, social,
and economic. The harmful effects are most pronounced for women who begin sexual activity in teen years; many will be passed on to future generations.

Data from the NSFG showcase the nega-tive consequences of early sexual activity, which include the following:
• Beginning sexual activity at a young age greatly increases the probability of becoming infected with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Girls who began sexual activity at age 13 are twice as likely to become infected by an STD as
girls who started sexual activity at age 21.
• Women who begin sexual activity at an early age are far more likely to become pregnant and give birth out-of-wedlock. Nearly 40 percent of girls who commence sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 will give birth outside marriage.
By contrast, 9 percent of women who begin sexual activity at ages 21 or 22 will
give birth outside marriage

• Women who begin sexualactivity at earlier ages are morelikely to become single mothers.
Women who became sexually active at ages 13 or 14 are more than three times as likely to
become single parents than are women who commence sexual activity in their early 20s.
• Early sexual activity seriously undermines girls’ ability to formstable marriages as adults.
When compared to womenwho began sexual activity in their early 20s, girls who initiated
sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 were less than half as likely to be in stable marriages in their
30s.
• Early sexual activity is linked to higher levels of child and maternal poverty. Some 27 percent of mothers who began sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 were living in poverty at the time of the survey. By contrast, 11.7 percent of mothers who began sexual activity in their early 20s were poor at the time of the survey.
• Girls who begin sexual activity at an earlier age are far more likely to have abortions. Nearly
30 percent of girls who started sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 have had an abortion. By con-
trast, some 12 percent of girls who began sexual activity in their early 20s have had an abor-
tion.
• Beginning sexual activity at an older age is linked to higher levels of personal happiness. More than half the women who began sexual activity in their early 20s report that they are currently “very happy” in life. By contrast, only a third of women who began sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 report that they are “very happy.”
The Negative Consequences of Increased Numbers of Non-Marital Sexual PartnersOn average, women are best off inlife if they are sexually active
only within the bounds of mar-riage. Increases in the number of non-marital sex partners are linked to a very broad array of neg-ative life outcomes.

• An increase in the number of non-marital sex partners greatly increases the probability that one will become infected by sexually transmitted diseases.
• Women who have more non-marital sex partners are more likely to be single mothers. Women who have had five non-marital sex partners during their lives are seven times more likely to become single mothers than are women who have engaged in sex only with their husbands.
• Women who have more non-marital sexual partners are more likely to have abortions.
Women who have had five non-marital sexual partners are four times more likely to have abortions than are women who have engaged in sex only with their husbands.
• Finally, the greater the increase in the number ofnon-marital sex partners, the lower the prob-ability of personal happiness. Some 56 percent of women who have had sex only with men they have married report that they are currently “very happy.” By contrast, only 37 percent of women with five non-marital sex partners report that they are “very happy.”

In Sex and Culture (1934), Unwin studied 80 primitive tribes and 6 known civilizations through 5,000 years of history and found a positive correlation between the cultural achievement of a people and the sexual restraint they observe.[1] "Sex and Culture is a work of the highest importance," Aldous Huxley wrote:

Unwin's conclusions, which are based upon an enormous wealth of carefully sifted evidence, may be summed up as follows. All human societies are in one or another of six cultural conditions: zoistic, manistic, deistic, rationalistic, expansive, productive. Of these societies the zoistic displays the least amount of mental and social energy, the productive the most. Investigation shows that the societies exhibiting the least amount of energy are those where pre-nuptial continence is not imposed and where the opportunities for sexual indulgence after marriage are greatest. The cultural condition of a society rises in exact proportion as it imposes pre-nuptial and post-nuptial restraints upon sexual opportunity.[2]

According to Unwin, after a nation becomes prosperous it becomes increasingly liberal with regard to sexual morality and as a result loses its cohesion, its impetus and its purpose. The effect, says the author, is irrevocable:

The whole of human history does not contain a single instance of a group becoming civilized unless it has been absolutely monogamous, nor is there any example of a group retaining its culture after it has adopted less rigorous customs.[3]

Seksuele revolutie

De seksuele revolutie is een ommekeer in de omgang met en de kijk op seksualiteit, die in de jaren 60 van de 20e eeuw plaatsvond, deels geïnspireerd door de werken van Wilhelm Reich en Alfred Kinsey. Vooral de introductie van de anticonceptiepil (ook bekend als "de pil") in 1964 (tot 1969 alleen op recept), droeg hier sterk aan bij. De seksuele revolutie is vooral een fenomeen uit de westerse industriële samenleving, en als zodanig ook een reactie op het Victoriaanse tijdperk.

Er werd meer de nadruk op de individuele beleving gelegd. Seksualiteit kwam losser te staan van voortplanting, mede door de introductie van de pil als effectief anticonceptiemiddel en de opkomst van de NVSH met allerlei consultatiebureaus. Mede daardoor kwamen seks en huwelijk verder van elkaar af te staan (voor- en buitenechtelijke seks). Ook seks met meer dan één partner (afwisselend of tegelijk) deed opgang (vrije liefde, "seksuele bevrijding").

De provo- en hippiebeweging heeft belangrijke bijdragen geleverd aan de seksuele revolutie. Daarnaast is er de invloed geweest van de televisie als massamedium.

De seksuele revolutie viel samen met een verandering in morele waarden en was een van de grotere onderwerpen in het feminisme en de emancipatie van de vrouw. Seksuele bevrijding en de bestrijding van seksueel geweld tegen vrouwen speelden een grote rol in de vrouwenbeweging van de "tweede feministische golf".

Voorvechters waren naast de vrouwenbeweging onder meer de progressieve partijen, in Nederland vooral D'66 en de PSP. De grote kerken reageerden terughoudend of afwijzend, vooral de Rooms-Katholieke Kerk en orthodoxe protestanten. De invloed van de kerken nam echter af (secularisatie).

Hoewel er deels later weer een teruggang is geweest kan in het algemeen worden gesteld dat sinds de seksuele revolutie:

-de emancipatie van de vrouw is toegenomen
-in de plaats van het huwelijk en het gezin, het individu als belangrijkste maatschappelijke institutie is gekomen
- de incidentie van geslachtsziekten is toegenomen
- het aantal grote gezinnen is afgenomen
-de bevolkingsaanwas is gedaald
- sommige andere seksuele belevingsvormen zoals onder andere homoseksualiteit meer worden geaccepteerd, en het homohuwelijk is ingevoerd

Wat er niet bij verteld word is dat dit een bewust en gestuurde actie was van de beruchte ''elite'' . Met alternatieve doeleinden

Men zag bekende namen als Wilhelm Reich, Alfred Kinsey en de Rockefeller-familie als een van de belangrijkste invloeden van de seksuele revolutie. Het werd gezien als een reactie op het Victoriaans tijdperk.

Sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation, Kinsey's goal was "to supplant what he saw as a narrow procreational Judeo Christian era with a promiscuous "anything goes" bi/gay pedophile paradise." ( Reisman, Crafting Gay Children: An Inquiry, p.4 He cruised Times Square looking for subjects. More than 25% of his sample were prostitutes and prison inmates including many sex offenders. Kinsey, who died prematurely of disease associated with impotence and self-mutilation (orchitis, Reisman p. 278), said 10 per cent of American men were gay when in fact only two per cent were.

Hugh Hefner said the Kinsey Report "produced a tremendous sexual awakening, largely because of media attention..." This shows how the elite orchestrates social change using media hype. (See Reisman, Kinsey, p.307)

With messianic fervor, Playboy took its gospel of sexual freedom to the American male who in the 1950's-1960's still consecrated sex for marriage. Playboy's aim, the aim of all pornographers, was to hook men on the glossy fantasy. To do this, they had to prevent them from finding true satisfaction in marriage.

In Reisman's words, "Playboy was the first national magazine to exploit college men's fears of women and family commitment. Playboy offered itself as a reliable, comforting substitute for monogamous heterosexual love." (Judith Reisman, "Soft Porn Plays Hardball," p 47)

Thus sworn enemies, Playboy and radical feminists, found common ground in hatred of the nuclear family. As a result, society now suffers from epidemics of family breakdown, pornography, impotence, child sexual abuse, sadosexual violence, teen pregnancy, a cocktail of STD's and, of course, AIDS. The birthrate has plummeted by 50% since 1960 and is barely at replacement level.

With Hugh Hefner's help, Alfred Kinsey detached sex from love and procreation. He reduced it to another physical function like urinating. Homosexual activists champion anonymous sex: a majority of gays have 10s-100s of partners each year. In less extreme form, heterosexuals have adopted this model. Recently a social columnist enviously described straight friends whose relationships have ended: "they're out partying, having the time and the sex, it seems of their lives."

In conclusion, the "sexual revolution" was really a triumph of an elite program of arrested development. The elite agenda is to redefine healthy as deviant and vice-versa and they have succeeded. In 40 short years, almost all sexual constraints have dissolved and heterosexual society is reeling. The cultural and social breakdown will only get worse unless there is a counterrevolution.
