In een even meeslepend als confronterend fictief rechtbankdrama doe jij uitspraak: held of moordenaar?
Live discussieprogramma
Vanuit de studio leidt presentator Roelof Hemmen een discussieprogramma, verzorgt live-updates en ontvangt deskundige gasten als Dick Berlijn (voormalig commandant der Strijdkrachten), Bas Haring (filosoof) en Mark de Wit (Vlaamse tv-maker en ooggetuige aanslag op Zaventem).
Deelnemen aan de discussie?
Als kijker kun jij online deelnemen aan de discussie door via de Facebook-pagina van National Geographic jouw standpunt kenbaar te maken. Dit kan alleen live op 11 september vanaf 20:30 uur. Dit doe je door te kiezen voor de smileys hartje (held) of boos (moordenaar). Mocht je gedurende de uitzending van mening wijzigen of jouw standpunt willen onderbouwen, dan kan dit altijd.
The Verdict: wat is het precies?
De film The Verdict gaat over het krankzinnige dilemma met de vraag die je eigenlijk niet wil stellen, laat staan beantwoorden: wat doe je als je als straaljagerpiloot onder hoge druk komt te staan, omdat een terroristische aanslag mogelijk tienduizenden mensen het leven kan kosten? De film kent korte onderbrekingen waarin live wordt geschakeld naar het discussieprogramma in de studio waarin experts vanuit hun standpunt een afweging maken.
Waarom dit programma?
De film in combinatie met het discussieprogramma zet het publiek aan het denken. Vorig jaar was het experiment al met veel succes in Duitsland te zien onder de naam ‘Terror, Ihr Urteil’.
Waarom op 11 september?
Deze dag markeert een keerpunt in onze moderne geschiedenis. Het is een dag die de wereld voorgoed veranderde. Meer dan zestien jaar later is de dreiging van terrorisme actueler dan ooit. Dat maakt het relevant om juist op deze dag stil te staan bij wat jij zou doen als jij de straaljagerpiloot, de rechter of een jurylid uit de film bent.
‘The Verdict’ is maandag 11 september om 20:30 uur te zien op National Geographic en vanaf dat moment kun je ook online live deelnemen aan de discussie.
