La Gazetta komt met dit verhaal. Zou een compromis van UEFA zijn met de grote clubs om een Europese Super League te voorkomen.

While having both the Champions League and an exclusive league for the European elite is impossible due to the limitations of the calendar, a compromise could occur between UEFA and the clubs pushing for a Super League.
The structure of such a competition would be fairly straightforward – 32 finalists divided into eight groups of four, however, the qualifications criteria would change in order to make the tournament more like the one dreamed up by the likes of Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, etc.
The new format would also see Italy return to four qualification places as opposed to the three they possess under the current Champions League, as the traditional big four domestic leagues in Europe – England, Germany, Italy, and Spain – would be granted four spots regardless of their coefficient ranking.
There is the alternative idea of only allotting three automatic places to the big four and offering the fourth spot based on historic merit, that is, their UEFA club ranking.
This would help guarantee historically big clubs who may miss out on automatic qualification an opportunity to stay among the elite.
The larger clubs have pushed for this idea, based off the comments from Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who said a Champions League without AC Milan or Inter isn’t the same.
However, the new format would go against former UEFA president Michel Platini’s idea of a more democratic European club competition that would help out the smaller clubs, but it would please the big investors and commercial sponsors.

. Dit is echt veel te commercieel, maar misschien is dit wel de laatste zeepbel die de huidige voetballerij doet knappen.

Ze weten gewoon dat clubs steeds minder afhankelijk zijn van de gewone, trouwe fans die naar het stadion komen. De grote clubs halen hun inkomsten van sponsordeals en van fans over de hele wereld die de wedstrijden kijken op tv en veel te dure merchandise kopen.quote:

Dan kan je zulke commerciële moves gewoon maken en hoef je, net als in de NFL, je plekje aan de top niet meer af te staan.

Nou...even morgenavond dat Rostov met een nulletje of 3 opzij zetten zodat de uit-wedstrijd een formaliteit wordt en Ajax ook in de CL zit.
