Yeah, we’ll say it: Here’s some pretty, pretty, pretty good news.
Curb Your Enthusiasm will return for a ninth season, nearly five years after Larry David’s curmudgeonly HBO comedy aired its Season 8 finale. HBO announced the news Tuesday.
No word yet on how many episodes, when the new season will premiere, which famous faces will guest-star or how often Susie will throw Larry out of her house in anger.
“We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can’t wait to see what he has planned,” Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming, said in a statement. The official release also included David’s thoughts on the new episodes: “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.'”
Two years ago, Bloys’ predecessor Michael Lombardo told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that they shouldn’t count out another installment of the Seinfeld co-creator’s HBO series. “I said, ‘So Larry, should I emotionally get Curb out of my head?’ He says, ‘No, no, no.’ As long as he’s still thinking about it, we have a place for him.”

The culmination of Clone Club is on the calendar: Orphan Black will end after an upcoming fifth season, BBC America announced Thursday.
The 10-episode Season 5 will air sometime in 2017.

Vinyl Cancelled at HBO, Reversing Earlier Renewal Decision

“After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of Vinyl,” HBO said in a statement. “Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project.”
The move comes after HBO announced in April that series creator Terence Winter would not be returning in Season 2. He was slated to be replaced by new showrunner Scott Z. Burns.
Despite the series notching just 764,000 viewers in its February premiere, HBO renewed Vinyl for a second season days after its launch. The series centered on Bobby Cannavale’s Richie Finestra, a 1970s New York music exec trying to make a career out of the city’s diverse music scene.
In addition to being his third collaboration with HBO, Vinyl marked Winter’s third team-up with executive producer Martin Scorsese. The two previously worked together on Boardwalk Empire and the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street.

Oh, dat is jammer doch ergens wel begrijpelijk. Ik keek met plezier naar de eerste paar afleveringen maar voor mijn gevoel ontbrak er een bepaalde spanning. Qua camerawerk en dialogen zat het verder prima in elkaar en de casting was wat mij betreft excellent.quote:

Ik denk dat het voornaamste dilemma de periode was waar het zich in afspeelt. Persoonlijk vond ik dat zeer vermakelijk maar ik kan me best voorstellen dat de jongere generatie er niet en masse warm voor loopt. Combineer dat met het toch wel enigszins trage tempo en je maakt de doelgroep heel beperkt, ongeacht de kwaliteit.

Klonk veelbelovend, maar ben afgehaakt na een aflevering of vijf.
Bij scenes met zulke excessen in de wereld van sex, drugs and rock&roll hoeven de acteurs niet óók nog te gaan schmieren. Dan wordt het over the top op een niet-leuke manier.

It starred Nathan Phillips (The Bridge), Britne Oldford (American Horror Story) and Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck).
Hunters premiered to just 540,000 total viewers in April. The show’s season series finale airs Monday at 12 am/11 pm central. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

The Last Ship is staying the course, having earned a Season 4 renewal from TNT on Sunday.
The cabler announced the action-thriller’s 13-episode pickup as part of the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Series lead Eric Dane, who plays CNO/former Nathan James captain Tom Chandler, told TVLine earlier this season that this year’s finale lays the groundwork for another run, if not more. “We know where Chandler is going to be at the beginning of Season 4,” he said of his talks with producers, adding: “[W]e have an idea what the first five seasons look like.”
Season-to-date, The Last Ship is averaging 2.2 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating, with its July 24 voyage matching season highs. With DVR, VOD and whatnot, its weekly haul totals 7.6 million viewers.
Earlier this summer, TNT renewed the dysfunctional family drama Animal Kingdom for Season 2, while expanding Major Crimes Season 5 to 21 episodes. Murder in the First is in the midst of Season 3, Rizzoli & Isles is scheduled to wrap its seven-season run on Sept. 5, The Librarians Season 3 premieres Nov. 20 and the freshman drama Good Behavior bows Nov. 15.
Season 3 of The Last Ship continues tonight at 9/8c, with Episode 8 of 13.

"I would say we're not in the upswing of the show's life cycle. There have been shows that have lasted a long time and much longer than us, twice as long at least. I don't know how close we are to the end, but I know we're very likely closer to the end than we are to the beginning."
The current sixth season, airing Wednesdays at 9/8c, is averaging 3 million viewers.
Season 7 is slated to debut in 2017.

Netflix has apparently had its fill with the Rayburns and all their family drama: The streamer has reportedly decided that Bloodline‘s upcoming third season will be its last.
According to THR, Netflix recently notified Sony that not only would there not be a Season 4, but that Season 3 — which was ordered back in July — would consist of just 10 episodes (down from 13).
Back in May, prior to the launch of the drama’s second season, Chandler joked to TVLine that the Rayburns had enough secrets to keep the series going “until I’m 92.”
Series creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler previously said they envisioned the series having a five- or six-season run. “We’re doing a TV series, so even in our own mind, we’re asking ourselves, ‘Does this series have seasons in it?'” Zelman told THR. “When we pitched it and we thought about it, we were thinking five to six seasons down the line because we wanted to make sure it could hold that much material. So we certainly have ideas for where everything could go and hopefully where everything will go.”
No word if Sony plans to shop the series around.

Berlin Station and Graves have both been renewed for a second season, Epix announced on Thursday. Spy thriller Berlin Station stars Hannibal alum Richard Armitage as a CIA operative stationed in Berlin who’s trying to find the source of a damaging leak; Graves is a half-hour political dramedy starring Nick Nolte as a former U.S. President attempting to salvage his legacy decades after leaving the White House.
Both series premiered last month on Epix, a pay-cable network that launched in 2009 and is now in more than 50 million homes. Production on Season 2 for both is set to begin in spring 2017. Also in the works at Epix: a TV remake of the 1995 film Get Shorty, with Ray Romano and Bridesmaids‘ Chris O’Dowd set to star.

Averaging 5 million total weekly viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, The Night Shift easily bested the likes of CBS’ Zoo (4.5 mil/0.7) and Fox’s Wayward Pines (2.4 mil/0.7) to stand as this past summer’s No. 1 drama. (Fainter praise alert: The medical sudser also was undefeated in its Wednesdays-at-10 time slot this summer, opposite CBS’ American Gothic and ABC reruns.)
The Night Shift‘s Season 3 finale — which left almost every character’s fate in one kind of flux or another — earned an average grade of “A” from TVLine readers.
“Week after week, The Night Shift tells incredibly engaging and emotional stories that draw us into a unique world,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “We are delighted to renew the show for an exciting fourth season and look forward to continue working with such a great cast and executive producing team.”
