quote:In July, FOX advertised the final episode of its summer series “Wayward Pines” as the “series finale.”
Five months later, the network is calling do-over: It’s picked up a second season of the show to debut in summer 2016.
Huh?

Netflix has quite the Golden Globe reward for nominee Lily Tomlin.
The streaming service has renewed the comedy for a third season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The comedy, produced by Skydance Productions and Okay Goodnight and starring Tomlin and Jane Fonda, will return for an additional 13 episodes in 2017.
The news comes ahead of season two's debut — and as the series awaits a formal premiere date for its 2016 return.

The Leftovers will be departing -- but not without final farewell.
HBO has renewed the drama from creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta for a third and final season. The news comes on the heels of the show’s second season finale and a Writers Guild of America nomination in the episodic drama category for Justin Theroux starrer “International Assassin,” written by Lindelof and Nick Cuse.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome back Damon Lindelof, Tom Perrotta and the extraordinary talent behind The Leftovers for its third and final season,” HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. “This show has proven to be one of the most distinctive HBO series and we are extremely proud of its unrivaled originality, which has resulted in such a passionate following by our HBO viewers. We admire and fully support Damon’s artistic vision and respect his decision to bring the show to its conclusion next season.”

More Major Crimes will be solved, now that TNT has renewed The Closer‘s offshoot for Season 5.
Update: Major Crimes‘ fifth season order is for 13 episodes, not a scant 10 as listed in TNT’s press release.
Major Crimes is heading for a holiday hiatus after its Dec. 21 outing, then will resume Season 4 in February with a five-episode “bonus” arc (bringing this season’s tally to 23).
TNT has also picked up The Librarians for third 10-episode season. The fantastical drama airs its sophomore finale on Sunday, Dec. 27.
Last month, TNT gave a Season 3 order to Murder in the First.

Sean Bean survived longer than usual this time around, but his spy drama Legends nonetheless has been cancelled by TNT after two seasons.
Legends is currently unspooling its sophomore run Mondays at 10/9c.
Our sister site Deadline reports that the freshman dramas Public Morals (a period piece from and starring Ed Burns) and Agent X (which was super silly) also got the hook.
The cabler’s cuts came as it ordered new seasons of two other dramas, Major Crimes (currently airing Season 4) and The Librarians (now in Season 2).

Legends was wel leuk, zonde. Librarians is echt pure aids, snap daarom dat het wel aansluit bij het Amerikaanse publiek.

quote:Syfy's Expanse Renewed for Season 2
The Expanse‘s longevity has been expanded.
Syfy has renewed the freshman drama from Alcon Television Group for a 13-episode Season 2, to air in early 2017.
“The Expanse is firing on all cylinders creatively, building a passionate fan base among viewers and critics alike, and delivering on Syfy’s promise of smart, provocative science fiction entertainment,” network president Dave Howe said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see where the story takes us in Season 2.”
Set 200 years in the future and airing Tuesdays at 10/9c, the series follows the case of a missing young woman that brings a hardened detective (played by Hung‘s Thomas Jane and a fedora) and a rogue ship’s captain (Steven Strait) together in a race across the solar system that will expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.
The Expanse premiered earlier this month to 1.2 million total viewers a 0.3 demo rating, but at last tally had settled in at around half that. With Live+3 DVR playback, its weekly average swells to 1.6 million viewers, Syfy notes.
